No.

No.
And seeing how flying is a universally liked feature in many MMOs, Im sorry to say but people here are in the smallest of minorities wanting it gone.
Although the reasons presented are at least understandable.

I don’t think anyone here realistically thinks flying is going to go away. And I haven’t seen anyone request it taken out, just that they don’t like it. It’s more of the cats out of the bag situation. To me it’s just the resulting effects weren’t an improvement on the feeling of the game.
There’s good things about it, for example the aerial views of a lot of places provide excellent context of the zones. More over the proposed suggestions are about giving players a reason not to teleport or fly around, instead of taking choices away. I feel like the objective of people arguing against the removal of flying are just trying to derail the argument being made here about the sad state of the open world.
It’s possible people enjoy the overworld in XIV it’s current state, but I don’t know of anyone that does. I am at least somewhat confident that most people don’t care about it at all. I am sure though that a lot of effort goes into building it. These zones have to be a lot of work so it is worthy to explore ways to put it to good use other than you walked here once for the MSQ.

I know a lot of people who do. Maybe its just your server? It’s possible people enjoy the overworld in XIV it’s current state, but I don’t know of anyone that does.

Do you? What do you particularly enjoy about the overworld regarding its gameplay elements? Is there anything that you enjoy navigating through its terrain or any particular mobs that you enjoy learning about?
Tell me about your favorite memories about the overworld that makes you keep coming back to it and appreciate it.

Every day.Do you?
Im a maxed master crafter. Trust me when i say the overworld holds loads to keep me busy. FATES, sidequests, you name it. Have YOU done all the EW sidequests? I have. Im still working through all the ARR , HW Stormblood and ShB sidequests that remain..do you have any idea just how much content is in those alone? What do you particularly enjoy about the overworld regarding its gameplay elements?
God I have a HUGE backlog on fishing holes and places to visit.
Im maxed level on all jobs so mobs really arent an issue, but I do love wandering around , poking my nose into little nooks and crannies. I am out virtually every single day.Is there anything that you enjoy navigating through its terrain or any particular mobs that you enjoy learning about?
Walking..and I mean WALKING....through Kholusia, all of Norvrandt. Talking to NPC's, watching the world around me, why dont you try coming to the Twelveswood and enjoying the dawn?Tell me about your favorite memories about the overworld that makes you keep coming back to it and appreciate it.
Walking under sun dappled trees, walking in Garlemald ( memories of ruined Darwin, pictures of postwar Berlin ), Ive wandered all the zones. Ran across Alpha and Omega more than once, walked the Sea of Clouds and remembered the Zundu / Vanu Vanu, went to the Azim Steppes and walked across Dhoro Iloh ( did all the Namazu quests and loved every moment )...stood in the towers of Azys Lla, looking at the sky , remembering the Warring Triads....went to Zenith, to Hraesvelgar's Tower, still the home of what was once an enemy and now a steadfast friend ( my first run in Heavensward was magic incarnate )..went to all the Stormblood zones , stood at the burning gates and remembered the pitched battle that saw Ala Migho freed.
"Let no man say we neglected to knock"
Try this too: walk in La Noscea under a blazing azure sky, look up at the scudding clouds, you can almost smell the sea air. A few days ago I revisited the grotto where Yshtola and I met for the first time ( I mained SMN, starting zone Limsa ).
Remember the poem?
"I am the waves that bear
I am the winds that guide
I am the evening stars
I am the morning sky
I am born of the sea
And there shall I die"
That is, and was, the premise behind Limsa and its people..so what you look at and say "there is no content and its a dead overworld"....not to me. For my own reasons, the words "for those that go down to the sea in ships" has special meaning.
Ath: Ill clue you in...I quit WOW because those DOLTS decided an OCE server needed to run on California time, 17 hours difference, we had been stuck in darkness for YEARS , since Blizzard doesnt give a rats unless you are American..a friend coaxed me to try FF 14.
I arrived and griped how it was night time yet again..she said "just wait".
Dawn came, along with the most beautiful clear day I had ever seen..I almost cried. Atmosphere means EVERYTHING in a game....thats why I stayed. Simple pure daylight.
The overworld isnt just mobs, thats a limited viewpoint , IMO you do need to look further, but .........your call. There is more to see and do than you realise, but I guess we see things differently.

Not sure how the master crafter comes into play here. I'm glad you find the nooks and crannies interesting. I do too. I am working through all the sidequests but I would say I'm at 80% completion or so. I do enjoy those but find that when they send me out on those sidequests everything is more of a go to point A, go to point B, go to point C and there is no danger or anything that triggers that exciting or caution about having to be careful or pay attention to my environment. The only thing to look forward to is the bits of lore about the zone.Every day.

So mobs are irrelevant to you now. They are to me as well. So you'll notice that one of the requests here in this thread to find ways to make them interesting and relevant to people again. Kind of like Eureka Orthos where the mobs are always relevant regardless of what level you are.
As far as fates. While some of them have a bit of writing to them most of them I feel are very generic, and worse even most of them are just zerging them down when you are with others or solo them with minimal effort. I couldn't tell you of a single fate in recent memory that I cared enough to remember its name. This wasn't the case all the time though. 10 years later I remember "The Eyes Have it" in Coerthas because Steropes would straight delete you if you disrespected him, so this was an example of something interesting.
They do not have an strategy to approach them nor do at any moment I feel like I could be overpowered if I'm not paying attention to what is going on.

Mining, botany, fishing...where else do I get the mats from?:P Specially timed nodes , collectibles for scrips, custom turn ins....I am now running two airships AND a submarine with another sub soon to come, so believe me my gatherers have loads to do, plus I do a lot of endgame crafting, indagator's, the next set will be in 6,4 ( combat ), so i will be out and about yet again...this next 4 star set will be a real challenge I am REALLY looking forward to.Not sure how the master crafter comes into play here.
Not gonna lie, while Vel is definitely coming off as passionate to a fault, implying someone has mental illness because they enjoy something you can't enjoy is just as cringe.
Honestly at this point they come off to me as one of those people that think having stuff in the "popular" video games grants them some kind of elite social status IRL. Hence all the time they spend on here advocating for 1 braincell 1 button game design to get all the in game shinies.
