Well I mean, there ARE people unsubbing anyway so...Damn I'm literally shocked at some of the takes in this thread. Y'all are either brainwashed, don't want to believe the truth, or don't want others to know the truth.
The truth: Square Enix doesn't want to risk the chance of having A SINGLE ONE OF THEIR PLAYERS unsubscribing from the game after they've maxed out their characters. Because if they unsubscribe, that means less money for them.
So that's it, that's the legit reason - corporate greed. You can sugarcoat it with some other BS if you want.
Also I love how there's so many replies who don't even bother explaining the actual reason. They just say "it's normal", or "other MMOs do it too".
