Best Class Quest Ranked?

I'm doing the Summoner new game +, and it made me think, if the community were to rank class quests from entertaining/interesting to absolutely boring or on a tier list, what would it look like? And that brings me here today to ask you all, how would you rank them?

What's weird is I liked a lot of the pre-30 stories but not much of the jobs.

For example both Pugilist/Archer had good stories but I didn't much care for Monk/Bard.

I think the one I liked the least was probably SMN. I don't think I really remember what it was about.

I think Pugilist was my favorite.

I felt like a lot of the class quests were generic, minus the Puglist one. PUG is weird because you start off annoyed at what you perceive to be a phony guild master, who actually slowly turns out to be competent and just needed something to light his fire again. Not really my thing but I felt emotions there and I felt it was really unique for the most part.


A lot of the level job quests up to level 50 were generic too though. There was so much betrayal in a lot of them. PLD. WAR. MNK. DRG(yes, it's a betrayal. Estinien is supposed on your side and sent you a message saying he wants to fight Nidhogg together but instead he fights you).

I actually really dislike DRG's quests because it doesn't transition super well into HW.

DRK and MCH are super memorable, all the way through really. AST is only really memorable from SB sadly. NIN was enjoyable but it did feel repetitive within its own series? The level 80 quest for NIN is really enjoyable though. RDM and SAM felt weirdly similar with the whole vengeance/atoning/helping the other pupil. Wasn't my vibe. DNC was okay, it really gave me the whole power of friendship vibes. BLM was cute, mostly because of post 50 with Lalai and Zhai'a. SMN and BRD post 60ish give off the same vibes too? MORE POWER!!! Except, I guess SMN actually gets that power. GNB is basically "how to be a bodyguard while tracking someone." Post 60 WAR was cute.

And then SGE/RPR. SGE was interesting. The twist villain bit was okay, I didn't really feel too compelled to fight alongside the original people we were tracking in the SGE quest despite their tragedies(the bun is cute though). RPR was really, really interesting, mostly due to learning more about Garlemald. I honestly felt like a lot of those details belonged in the MSQ, but I'll give the job quests the credit since that's where it came from.

Think that's everything shortened up nicely. Might do DoL/DoH later.

I enjoyed how the Ul'dah ones were somewhat connected as the Alacran were involved in some way or another (Though for Thaumaturge it was one part fairly early on). I like to think of the Gladiator level 30 quest as the finale to the Ul'dah combat class quests.

The crafter/gatherer questlines have been surprisingly good in my opinion and where they lacked in action they made up for in at world-building. Not to mention some of them like Alchemist were fairly emotional and the Weaver one was adorable.

I feel like the majority of the ARR job quests were very forgettable with only the DRG quest standing out because of how weird it gets depending on when you do it in the MSQ. The DRK questline is the obvious winner for post ARR jobs for me as it voiced a lot of my opinions that I imagine I would have as the WoL that the MSQ doesn't let you do. I think the quality of job quests for all the expansion jobs is significantly better than the original jobs and I actually enjoyed quite a few of them.

I liked Sch's story a lot, but I'm a bit tonberry obsessed so I might not count. DRK is also nice but I haven't finished it yet.
The rest I didn't care about. RDM's is seen as one of the best and I couldn't care less about it. Snooze.

The quests for the base classes (1-30) and the Jobs (30-70) are kind of separate stories with little connection... So it might be better to think of them as separate stories...

PLD is definitely at the very bottom of the list, and I think the writers even acknowledge that as they went back to the GLD storyline in Stormblood's Job quests rather than trying to continue the PLD one.

But for good ones, the SAM story is a pretty good one.

Imo it goes:

GOD TIER: DRK, PGL, ROG, lvl 50 SAM, MCH
S Tier: RDM, ARR SCH, HW DRG, HW and StB BRD
A Tier: StB WHM, GNB, RPR, AST, ARR BLM, ARR and StB NIN
B Tier: SGE, BLM, THM, DNC, StB MNK, DRG, ARC, lvl 60 SAM, HW NIN, MRD, StB PLD, GLD
C Tier: ARR BRD, ACN, WAR, SCH, HW WHM
D Tier: LNC, SMN, MNK, ARR WHM, ARR PLD

Skip Button Tier: HW PLD

Even though I'm not the biggest fan of NIN's Stormblood questline, it gets bumped up by the cutscene before the last fight alone.
