When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.

Mide (from Alex raid): first time?
If I get a dollar every time Mide touch her scar, I probably have enough money for a month sub or two by the end.
About Zero ... I think the verdict is still out for me, at least till the end of the 7.0 MSQ. Whether people like Alphinaud or not, the 2.0 Alphin and the post 3.0 Alphin are almost 2 completely person, with the latter reforged by his journey through the Dragonsong war. Also, the Crystal Exalt in 6.0 is almost nothing like G'hara from 2.0 with that 100 years experience and leadership packed into him. I expect a similar grow from Zero as we journey through the third. Knowing the writing style of FF14, there gonna be a lot of trauma, short term hope then crushed with disillusion waiting for her there, and probably will reshape her character.
I'm not saying she gonna turn out to be someone everyone gonna love, but I do think people are being critically harsh on her criticism at the moment. Although I do understand why though, the narrative does get too preachy for me sometime. Like ... we get the point, no need to recite "love&friendship conquer all" 1000 times by 100 different NPC. But then that's just to typical in Japanese media that I'm just ... kinda jaded to it.
My current feeling toward Zero right now is "she's nothing special". Not bad, but not good either, and hoping for more.![]()
For me the Most Boring was Papalymo.
He was so uninteresting, they killed him off in such a quick and unceremonious way.
Zero Im still willing to give the chance that MAYBE she could become interesting later.
Should've killed Y'shtola off and kept Papalymo around instead, but I guess they can't sell body pillows of him.
I have the same feelings regarding both him and Yda. I disliked how the writers kept treating Yda and Papalymo like they were one unit. They were just two "joke" characters who stood around and did nothing while you did all the busywork.
They could have been so much more. But, the writers either didn't see it or didn't want to do the work required to properly develop either of them. So, Papalymo's sacrifice had all the impact of watching a mob die instead of a beloved friend.
I still think the whole Lyse thing was an afterthought just tacked on the end. All it did introduce yet another character whom the writers refused to flesh out and the reaction of the Scions to the whole thing was nonsensical.
Lyse had more character development in the Stormblood movie than she had in game.
Maybe Zero will be more interesting.
I liked her in 6.2 but I think the story just kind of wore me down with her in 6.3. I think that the one dimensional Scions in ARR take the cake for being more unlikable but they got fleshed out more in the follow on expansions mostly.
