I know not all venues are focused on it, but I don't understand why FFXIV is so favored by the ERP community. Why? There's better games to do that... and they're free games...

Here's the first problem. Sunday night.
I know where I was on Sunday night, and it wasn't playing a video game.
It's also pretty funny that the focus is on the "Other" category here, knowing full well what it encompasses. A salacious post for sure.

..which is what this entire thread boils down to. Kaurhz has it right. This mentality "people SHOULD do this and this content because I say so"....really needs to go sit in a corner. Fun is subjective, not every thing has to do with player power..and to have that..limited... mentality...is, in all truth, not only self defeating, but tone deaf to what others may enjoy.how they should or shouldn't play the game.
FF 14 is NOT "raid or die", or "savage or bust"....what each of us chooses to do is a matter of personal preference. In MMO terms, its the gold standard, player choice being first and foremost a primary goal in modern game design.
The entire Fallout series is testament to that..and Skyrim, ESO, SWTOR..each of us has their own journey to make, none of us have any right to tell another what path to take, or where that path will go.
Its how they want to spend their time?I know not all venues are focused on it, but I don't understand why FFXIV is so favored by the ERP community. Why? There's better games to do that... and they're free games...
BTW this "its all ERP" is also a meme and totally untrue.

just open your own party finder group if you can't see anything you feel like doing on the existing list. -shrug-

Way to take things out of context and speak in platitudes. But its clear to me your not actually interested in reading more than three words and turn them into a punch line for your next brigade...which is what this entire thread boils down to. But please, keep saying more generic statements nobody here actually disagrees with for no reason whatsoever. Let me help you.
1. People have free will!!!
2. Do not be bad!!!! It is not good!!!
3. Live, Laugh, Love
Because there are 18+ spaces that are specifically made for you to have your personal s*x dungeon, no need to pest this game with it..which is what this entire thread boils down to. I dont think that's really related to this thread. OP isnt complaining about not finding a group for any specific piece of content. It seems to me they are lamenting a lack of meaningful content to do and because of that PF being more concerned with making up their own activities.

Thank you. The worst part is that if this feedback gets taken into account and we get more content hopefully for all sides of the game (fat chance, but oh well) we all win. Every single one of us. Despite this, people here are more interested in fighting whatever crazy idea is in their head atm and acting like I'm the one forcing them to do it.I dont think that's really related to this thread. I see the points of view from some that the game is fine and there is plenty to do, that the screenshot is not representative. I mean maybe they're right. I for one disagree with this, but at least it's relevant to the thread.
A: It was Sunday...This is the party finder on Sunday night. It's particularly interesting that there are more postings about people advertising miscellaneous activities they make up than actually trying to group up and do content the game provides.
I'm really feeling the MMO aspect of this game.
It's 55 "other" postings vs 41 for the rest of the actual game.
I guess you can also spam the roulettes and steamroll whatever you get with a bunch of strangers that won't say anything because why would you? a WAR can solo pretty much any instance at this point. What's there to say?
On the bright side we seem to have gained one group looking to do a deep dungeon after Orthos released. Nice.
Forgive my cynicism at this point and I'm sure millions of excuses are going to be presented here but this is the reality of the game lately.
B: You're looking at the other tab where all that stuff belongs.
C: There are 22 high end PF groups in your picture, which is pretty good for a Sunday...Maybe click on that tab instead.
D: PF is primarily used for high end raiding, recruiting, other random stuff. No one uses it for general content because its not necessary.
Your take is bad and you should feel bad for trying to make such a take.
Another trash take lol.We can generally agree that FFXIV is great for socializing. But Square Enix needs to stop wasting resources on raids then. That's not befitting the current spirit of the game. Imagine if they spent resources making more outfits, better housing, better clubbing tools, ability to play and mix tracks in-game instead of Twitch, official modding support, maybe even the ability to make custom housing items. That's what people really want. If you disagree, ask yourself: why are YOU so concerned about people not raiding enough?
They can focus on more than one thing. Saying they should strip resources for one niche thing and give it to another niche thing is beyond stupid. The MAJORITY of FFXIV is people who just play for the story, unsub and then come back for the story. Even Yoshi-P has said as much. The dev team does a good job of delivering a variety of content for everyone. I don't RP, I don't get into that "club scene" because that stuff makes zero sense to me, but I'm not going to demand that they give you less support because I like raiding and pvping and view RP stuff as weird.

I see the picture by the OP in a different light entirely.
41 PF for "the actual game" and 55 for "other." Maybe it speaks volumes for how well DF works. Without DF, maybe we'd be at 1041 for the "actual game" and 55 for "other." I see this as "players' needs for "actual game" content are being fulfilled.
