I can agree that it's optional. It's the "in a vacuum" part that I'm more interested in. The relics may not be necessary to do other content but they also aren't in a vacuum where they have no other use.

If you dont grind the relic, no content is locked out to you. That is what i mean by it being in a vacuum. The grind serves no other purpose then to fulfill one objective and one alone. You grind for the relic. The relic is not required for any content. Grinding the relic doesnt unlock any content. You can do the hildabrand questline and not do the relic. You can progress bozja into zadnore and not do the relic. You can progress through eureka and not grind the relic. Literally nothing is required of the relic. The grind is completely within a vacuum

As a semi-related thought, I half wonder if what is really making some players angry is that using tomestones as the grind currency is taking away the double dip in rewards that the other relic grinds offered. Where before they would grind whatever was required to get the dropped tokens/complete the quest objectives, they would also still have the usual currency rewards from the content to use as they please. Now they're required to use the currency for the relic, they lose that additional reward for doing the content.

That is one of the reasons, yes. Astronomy has been a tome in this game since 6.05. It is incredibly overused.

This is the party finder on Sunday night. It's particularly interesting that there are more postings about people advertising miscellaneous activities they make up than actually trying to group up and do content the game provides.

I'm really feeling the MMO aspect of this game.

It's 55 "other" postings vs 41 for the rest of the actual game.

I guess you can also spam the roulettes and steamroll whatever you get with a bunch of strangers that won't say anything because why would you? a WAR can solo pretty much any instance at this point. What's there to say?

On the bright side we seem to have gained one group looking to do a deep dungeon after Orthos released. Nice.

Forgive my cynicism at this point and I'm sure millions of excuses are going to be presented here but this is the reality of the game lately.
