Hello, I have a question roleplay wise.

So First off, Hello everyone a pleasure to meet you all. Second of all I'm looking to roleplay a certain theme that I'm sure of, It may be a little messed up as I'm mostly fan girling over one of my favoirt books/series called The summoning.

So to the roleplay question I'm looking to roleplaying a necromancer not so much class wise, as it is one who sees ghost and accidently (shouldn't do) summon them into their bodys when around them be it animal or human. So that is something to avoid at all cost as it makes their ghost really mad. As one who doesn't have the ability to tell the difference between living and dead. Then my retainer being like my boyfriend a werewolf, I just made them the cat looking boy since it seemed best option. I plan to get other retainers for the rest of the group, Liz who is a ghost/poltrogist, Victoria who is a witch, Simon who is a sorcerer.

In short a group of supernaturals (by race) with certain abilitys that the world itself told was crazy labeling with mental illness, Like Victoria being bipolar, or the character i relate to the most Chloe being labled schizo, When they really are witchs and supernaturals.

So to shorten up is it possible to follow the theme, and be reasonable in roleplay. If so I would like ideas on the classes or whatever would suit them.

    Hi and welcome!

I haven't read The Summoning so I'm going to be just offer advice based on what you typed here. In FFXIV, necromancers are unethical conjurors/white mages who do horrible things in defiance of death.
    For an example, Edda.

What you seem to be describing is a medium. The class/job most aligned with that concept is thaumaturge because their lore is based on the funerary practices of the priesthood of Nald/Thal.

I think a blue mage could be an interesting choice too. Because you are learning new spells from monsters, you can easily roleplay that your abilities are from ghosts.

Your werewolf boyfriend could be a marauder/warrior because that's a class associated with rage.

Liz could be any class because being dead isn't a class ability, not counting dragoons.

Victoria and Simon could be any of the magic using classes. I'd pick summoner and black mage.

You are facing two big problems, though. First, you'd need to level each of the classes you want before you can assign them to your retainers. Secondly, no one would be able to see your retainers. So, you'd be role playing alone.

That's boring and too involved to set up. Keep it simple.

Stick to roleplaying Chloe and play whatever job you find fun. Then you can have her change personalities whenever she changes jobs.

    Just my two gil.

I see your point, If my friend can get her labtop set up I may make her play as one of the characters for me (joking wise) but thank you. I don not mind roleplaying alone in some lines in places when I am alone so thats not a huge proplem, I dont mind leveling up many at once since I have the road to 80, most are in their 20s now.

I edited what I wrote after doing some thinking in the shower. Just take a quick glance.

One other idea I thought of is start sending inquiries thru Party Finder asking if other people are fans of the books. You may be able to find players willing to roleplay each of the characters you mentioned.

    Welcome to Eorzea!

As Kacho mentioned, mediumship in Eorzea/Hydaelyn, is something not usually seen, and this is because of how the cycle of life and death works in the lore - all life and souls are born from the Lifestream/Aetherial Sea, and after a living being dies, their soul returns to the Lifestream to be reborn anew. Hence ghosts and spirits... usually either are just lingering aetheric traces that have been anchored to the physical plane, or, are not spirits at all (at least, not a spirit of the 'actual' world), but something else called a voidsent, which is from another dimension called the Void.

What the Void and the voidsent really are, is a big spoiler that is revealed much later in the story (and plays an important part in it), so I will not spoil any more. But there is a Job class recently added called Reaper (RPR for short) that has as an ability where a very low level voidsent possesses the player's character temporarily, although the voidsent appears to be lacking in independent thought and is simply a construct of darkness-aspected ather. It is probably though the closest to what you're looking for, so might be an option for you once you're much further in the game (unfortunately RPR only is available at level 70, as that is the level it starts at). The quest to begin the path of RPR is found here.

Okay, Thank you I guess if i have to I could always play it off as being crazy in others perspectives, Seeing that is how people typically acted around the "necromancer" I'm just really in love with the book series, and wish it had more so I have tendecy to try to roleplay it out or write fanfic.

    welcome!

I love crazy characters! In all enternaiment industry, the best ones are always the mad ones for me! (Kefka, Joker, Arlequeen etc).

A nice thing to do inside game is look for gear/glamours that "looks crazy" (but try to not spend much your gil in them at the early stages of the game. Save gil for important stuff and only spend in glamours after you discover a nice way to make money).

    Well, about jobs, let's see:

    - I think Warrior falls ok into the concept, since you have a "beast inside" you, like a werewolf.

    - Dark Knight (another tank you can open after reaching lv50) has some very interesting plots in their lore for "crazy stuff".

    - Reaper. It's a lv70 melee DPS with a dark themed featuring a void avatar (that you can roleplay as a mad spirit from the Void and you try to control it, like a true necromancer).

    - Black Mage. It stars as the Thaumaturge class. In their lore, you discover some "nasty business" around the Abyss (that can lead anyone into madness) and you can try to master such knowledge fighting your way to not become mad in the process...

    - Summoner. It starts as Arcanist. The summoning is a powerfull lost art that is attached to some very important lore thing you will discover later in the main story, but it deals with some forgotten knowledge based on the submission of powerfull beings into your mastery to command them in battle. Like a "master of gods".

    - Blue Mage. Falls perfectly into the concept of a Joker/Arlequeen persona. Like an extremelly powerfull caster while a smile is always in your face and using fancy clothes and a hat xD

    - Red Mage. Have the same visual appeal of Blue Mages, but in a more "serious" way and the possibility to enter instanced duties normally (if we arent talking about rentainers).

When I play this game, all my chars (I have 7 in total) has a "concept" like you did here. Two of them are "magic masters" (one more like a dark/gothic themed caster while the other falls more into healings). Both are a bit crazy as well. The gothic one loves to laugh everytime she kills an enemy while she is very cold and almost inexpressible to others. And the healer one likes to talk to an imaginary friend all the time (sometimes, they argue badly '-').

Okay Thank you, I think i have it togeather thanks to all of you really thank you, just got to find some realistic clothing styles (like modern 2000-2010ish styles

By what i Understood My plan is ----
Chloe: Being a blackmage/reaper(when I unlock reaper) for the necromancy/ who she is talking to herself aka ghost. Which will be my main, since I highly relate to her character since I'm so similar with my mental stuff.

Simon: I guess I'll make him a Redmage later since he is a sorcerer.
His brother/Chloes boyfriend the werewolf going Warrior/monk (since fist seem really werewolfy when he is in non werewolf form he is a good fighter in the story.
Liz: I guess I'll make her a sage/white since in the story she before dying moved things with her mind. Later find out she is a special kind of demon who can move objects as a ghost.
Rachel: who is another character who likes to steal and is a fire demon can be rogue
Victoria can be summoner since she is a witch and bipolar, So summoner can be low ends and scholar can be high ends. (i know this well because I am bipolar.)

(editing) any cool intresting outfits that May work?

    I loved your choices!

About glamours there are tons of options.
I invite you to take a time trying all the lv1 stuff you find on the Market Board in any major city. Maybe you will find something nice for all of them. And you can keep an eye on what people are wearing to "examine" them and "try on" their clothes/glamours as well.

Other than that, there is a site with an interesting quantity of glamour options called "eorzea collection" (just google it). You can look for nice combos there for each of your chars races and genders

But, I insist: only ivest gil for glamours after you find a nice way to make money in game! Some people (like me) consider the glamouring the "true end game content" :3
