The TT card in Eureka orthos

Collecting all the TT cards forces you to engage in almost every facet of the game. This is just another one of those. The players that have all of the cards have touched almost every aspect of the game. I fully expect that Beastmaster will have a card locked behind it too.

Forgive me, I've said how it's not "just another one of those" twice, but I haven't given a detailed explanation so far. The deep dungeon Heaven on High was added in patch 4.35, alongside some triple triad cards. In patch 4.5 these cards were made obtainable by playing Triple Triad against Ushiogi. But in order to do that, players had to beat the quest "On the Shoulders of Giants", which is the unlock quest for Heaven on High floors 31 to 100 and requires beating floor 30 of Heaven on High. The equivalent quest for Eureka Orthos is "Rage Extinguished". If the Orthos triple triad card was just like the Heaven on High cards then in patch 6.5 completing the quest Rage Extinguished would unlock an NPC who we could play Triple Triad against to get the Gancanagh card. That has not happened. But as this explanation hopefully illustrates, even though the Heaven on High cards can be obtained by playing triple triad against an NPC, players do still need to engage with Heaven on High if they want those cards. If the equivalent conditions were applied to the Orthos card then players would still need to engage with Eureka Orthos, including by beating the monster represented on this card (the floor 10 boss)

You are almost certainly right that Beastmaster will have one or more cards locked behind it, but if they are anything like the Blue Mage ones getting those will simply require beating the Beastmaster quests and then buying those cards. Or beating the beastmaster quests and playing NPCs at triple triad to get them. Beating the relevant quests is a common unlock condition for getting cards out of triple triad NPCs, just not one that applies to the Gancanagh card.

If there's one thing I wished they would change are the TT drops from 24-man dungeons. They should make those like untradeable minions where you can't lot on it if you already have it. But change it to Greed-only for those that already have it. And Need otherwise. It apparently is too much to ask the playerbase to respect Need before Greed. But that's how it is.

I agree with you. However, incording to Lalachievements (which is an incomplete sample of collectors), Gancanagh is the 24th rarest card in the game right now. The only cards rarer than it are ones added in Dawntrail (all of which are fairly easy to get), Asura (which is from a trial you only do more than once unless a roulette puts you into it or you want the card. There is no EX trial, there is no mount, there is no other loot.) FF protag cards or Goldor (which is late Blue Mage content- and purchasable with allied seals once you've got that far. No RNG involved- if you want this one you have it). The only cards older than Gancanagh (or even of a similar age) that are rarer are the FF protag ones.
While getting 24 man cards is a pain in the rear the rarest of those is (unsurprisingly) Eulogia- the 46th rarest card in the game. It's been out for half as long as Gancanagh. The 24 man card from the same patch as Gancanagh is the 83rd rarest card in the game and a player is more than twice as likely to have that one as they are to have Gancanagh.
The data we have available (which is obviously not complete) tells us that the barrier for getting Gancanagh is higher than any of the 24 man cards and that the Gancanagh card is, given it's age, disproportionately rare.

Yes this needs to happen. It’s beyond annoying that the card boss is floor 10, but you have to do floors 31+ over and over to get the sacks that drop the card. And the sacks are RNG, so unlike the lucky person that got theirs in their first batch, I still haven’t seen one, and it frustrates me enough that I don’t try as often anymore. Before DT, that was the ONLY card I was missing. I’m still working on the new cards from DT atm, but I really want an NPC to play for the EO card.

There needs to be an incentive to do content. Some stuff needs to be earned. Its the pvp discussion again in different form, except this time the reward is actually obtainable.

Granted, the moogletome rewards kinda poke in rewards from a load of old content. But thats syncable stuff and old beast dailies.

Tfw the collection that requires you to do almost all of the different content in the game to complete makes you do certain content.

If anything, I dislike cards hidden behind allied society quests more as these are essentially time-gated because of their rank requirements, while all the other cards are way more freely farmable in their respective contents.

I was so damn relieved they added a new NPC this last patch in the Gold Saucer, so you can get the Wuk Lamat card without having to finish BLU to rank 30 in Masked Carnival for the final NPC.
