Recently did another relic - WHM HW one just to have the sharpened tsar replica:

It looks nice in cutscenes and up-close screenshots but starts to fail when you do some instances and the weapon is zoomed out. Glowy Thyrus variants from ARR relic chain stand out way more as they are thicker and the weapon itself is the glow/high contrast effect, not something around it.

Manderville weapons do look better than most/some old relics but there are still some weird looks - like MCH has a glowing ring around it, and some glow around the weapon so for one it's harder to see the weapon itself and two it makes it look worse when it's zoomed out. Why not make the materials of the weapon itself have glow/contrast (like the DoH/DoL relics) and higher fidelity/resolution?

Any weapon that is high contrast/bright on its own seems to look better (stands out more) than a non-glowing weapon surrounded by some glowy effects. Like shiva ex weapons aren't that far off from uwu weapons:

Not to mention SCH/SMN books that are hard to come by in bright/high contrast variants outside of ultimates.

Then there is weapon size scaling between races, especially "vertical" weapons. Elezen or Viera will have a big bow, often going way above their heads, while a Lalafell will get a windup version (angry because small, jealous of tall...)

While non-vertical weapons aren't affected as much, usually end up quite big:

And in the end, weapons will be tied to the job for better or worse... WHM will have yet another stick without utilizing a wand and shield options. Dancer or Astro weapons do alter between shapes while WAR can sometimes get a hammer... But PLD will inevitably get a big glowy shied with a nice glowy sword visible from malms away

So with 7.0 improvements to lighting and graphics fidelity, they also should look at weapons and relics weapons if their purpose is to look good and not just be "alternative tome weapon". If you have a weapon that is of a specific color (glowing effects) then why not cast light of that color around you, and colorize some attacks/abilities? Then use higher resolution meshes and make weapons with distinct materials and elements (like DoH/DoL try to now) rather than generic low-rez usually-dark non-glowing weapons surrounded by generic glowy effects with sometimes low-rez glowing circles, ribbons, and whatnot that give a fuzzy blob of an excuse for a relic/high-tier weapon.
