    Performance Mode in Instanced Areas

I finally started leveling bard and between dungeons I found myself plucking around on the harp in the overworld. That made me think - why can't we use performance mode in instanced areas like dungeons and raids?

Sure, it wouldn't be difficult to conjure up a scenario in which it could be used as an "exploit" or be "abusive" in some form or another (there's a vote kick option for a reason!) but it's not like it would be a particularly game-changing addition, moreso a fun novelty. Imagine a pre-pull ditty or triumphant fanfare if you're privileged enough to have a bard in your party comp.

You may see it as being "privileged", others are going to see it as a major annoyance. Most BRDs have little to no skill at Performance.

You're not in the duty to Perform, you're there to kill things. All that would be accomplished is getting BRDs vote-kicked at the first possible opportunity because the rest of the party is there to clear the duty, not listen to a slacker giving a grade school level music recital.

Being someone who does play BRD on occasion in instances, I'd prefer not being subjected to vote kicks because other BRDs want to force their random musical wanderings on parties in a duty.

If you need to play for others, keep it to Limsa or Gridania. Or maybe try Ul'dah, I almost never see BRDs performing at the Aetheryte there.

I don't think it's fair to assume the absolute worst of the community at ever turn. Yes, you're not in a duty to perform, but you're also not in a duty to use the bathroom or take your dog out, yet waiting for either of those things is a frequent occurrence. I don't think it would do any harm to be able to listen to an impromptu harp piece during downtime in a dungeon. If you wanted to purposefully grief in a dungeon there are plenty of other ways you can already do it.

Exactly, which is why the chances of seeing someone do it would probably be slim to none. I can think of several multiplayer games off the top of my head that allow for playable musical instruments in "competitive" multiplayer modes despite the theoretical potential for "abuse" because... they're fun. If your fun comes at the expense of others' time they have the tools to reprimand you for it.

I think it would be a niche yet positive addition. God forbid anyone have fun.
