They're our forum neighbors, and statistically, there should be some lurker here that can read their Discussion topics. Do they have any issues with the game? Are they aware of what we discuss here?

I know Asian MMO design is usually focused on fixing the issues their country playerbase has before even considering global feedback, but being SE they might as well just go ahead and ignore everyone.

That said, some perceived issues from our DCs might not be an issue for them because of their culture; I mean, people this side often complains about pugging for EX and Savage, yet in Japan using DF for both is common as it's expected you will watch a guide and know how to play your class before jumping in.

More seriously my general understanding is that it’s less acceptable to consistently request small / less consequential changes (i.e ‘bitching about things’ lol), and superficially there’s seems more to be more accepting of the game for what it is than what it should be, which I guess is another cultural thing.

They’re also infinitely more ruthless and vicious about things they do hate, however. Like, sending death threats to the main office kind of vicious lol (though this wasn’t for ffxiv).

From my understanding, they do more of their critiquing and criticizing elsewhere like on social media, other forums, and anonymous greentext sites, i.e. places their accounts aren't linked to. (◍´͈ꈊ`͈◍)
I am kind of fatigued that whenever there's discussion or discourse, we have to go "well, what do the JP players think? They're the only ones the devs care about." I know/hope that that's not the case but still... (ಠ3ಠ)

I’ll admit I shamefully do sometimes check out the JP forums with Google translate. While it does seem…convincing (lol), from what I’ve seen I feel like a lot of nuance to what’s said is lost through translation, which can sometimes affect the meaning of the post. That said, there’s also nuances to the translation, and I can’t rightly say how truly ‘accurate’ it is.

My friend says it's accurate enough to understand what is being said but not accurate enough to capture a tone in text.
