You DID decorate your house, right?

Well? You made a big fuss about needing one. Are you using it? Did you decorate it? If you didnt, may I ask why? It's been a while now since a lot of people won, but some in my ward still clearly havent touched theirs...bit sad to walk out and see new houses rotting already..

Did you just realized that there is no housing crisis in FF14 to begin with?
It is all about the vanity.

In some cases, that is spot on. While I do still hear people lamenting that they don't have a house, I don't know where they were when in Week 2 of the new wards, houses were at 0 bids as bidding came to close. Week 2! For most of the playerbase (on my server) if you really wanted a house, you should already have it. And if you don't, greed probably got you. Work within the system. Recognize that Larges and Mediums will have a lot of bids. If you have no house and want to bid with impunity (knowing you still have something) then bid on a small first. I digress.

Many just want to say they have a house, even if they don't decorate it. However some lack the skills. If my wife didn't decorate my house, it would just be a dumping ground for the every-other-month seasonal event with a housing item, plus a mailbox and a summoning bell. However, I'd use my house extensively. MB is right outside, with convenient access to a mailbox and a summoning bell. And most importantly, not 50% of the server standing around at the aetheryte.

I agree actually, which is half of why I'm patronizingly asking. I already know the answer, but just to help fire the neurons of someone else-maybe encourage a bit of a spiritual awakening for a few others here and hopefully get them to either at least put up a house skin other than default so their neighbors who dreamed of finally getting a house dont have to walk out and look at eye-sore abandoned miserable shell wards or ideally just let it go to someone else entirely-but there's no way a vanity hoarder would dare let another take and actually USE their precious digital house trophy so. But maybe like, maybe someone somewhere will see this and go. Hm. Maybe I should do something with that. Just on the small sliver of hope. Please at least pretend to be interested in your houses, friends.

The lottery system was requested by players on the basis that people who barely play and are barely interested in housing plots should have an equal chance at getting one. And now they do. The end result was obviously going to be more houses owned by people who aren't online much and don't care about their house.

Cannot stress this enough to be honest. The lotto added tons of folks to competition who are simply there in the event that they might someday care about housing.

For what its worth I deco my homes; housing deco even if your going through a steward is a expensive and time consuming proposition. There are many that I do not think ever go to their houses - they just wanted to have it. The housing generally is there for anyone intending to use it in a capacity beyond mere possession and I feel bad for those people that have to wait lotto after lotto to just move in. Many will have to choose a plot and hope its one that no one else intends to bid on - but thats beyond your control.

Outside - yes, inside - no.

Why? Because with the lottery in place I can't choose when I'm able to buy a medium or a large house. I let go a personal medium in the past thinking I'll just buy another one immediately when Empyreum is released, but then the lottery got implemented and I couldn't. That's why I won't let a medium/large house demolish again even if I'm not currently using it. I'll just keep my property until I have the time and gil to decorate.

I do my gardens and hang out in them all the time. Many of mine are deco'd inside but I have some that are not just the basics. I'm planning on spending time with them after 6.5 when the lull begins in the walk up to xpac next year.

Currently I'm just really busy with all my me's.

Personally I havent redone mine since I moved plot 2 years ago. I'm still debating if I want to redo it the same way I had before or play around with some new ideas. But atm i'm just a bit too busy in rl to concentrate on it.

As has already been said, it does feel as some people just want to be able to say that they have a house.

I spend a lot of time at my little house and have explored the Ward numerous times too as enjoy seeing what others have done with their houses.
And there are a few (though actually not many) where the absolute minimum has been done with them. A few random garden items outside or a few token furniture items inside (assuming they didn't lock the house itself) but otherwise appearing as if the owner lost interest very shortly after they won the plot.
