again, there is a difference between braindead and casual, currently this game caters to people that dont want to play a gameHave fun figuring out how to keep a massive MMORPG designed for casual players afloat without the casual player revenue.
Again, those other games exist. Can't understand why people complain about X game not being Y-enough when Y-Game literally exists and is available to play.
Remember, hardcore content exists because there is demand for it, but it's more of a bone-thrown situation than the main "deal". Yoshi-P even ranted about "What's the point of even having hardcore content if people just cheat it", so it's not like he's married to the idea of even having hard content at all.

I'm not sure we are playing the same game. There was plenty of thinking to do when I went into Zodiark MSQ blind. Wasn't hard after I figured it out, but calling it brain dead is rather disingenuous. I mean if you're watching videos on how to do the fight/dungeon before doing them, then yeah..duh it's gonna be brain dead for you because you didn't have to do any work to learn anything.
Well, you're free to call it whatever you want; this is the direction the game is going and will ensure years of continued expansion on the dime of casuals like my wife who aren't really here to play a game so much as have things they can do together while socializing with friends. The core is engaging as it needs to be, it appeals and encourages the target audience to do it.
If that doesn't do it for you, the devs have kindly included hardcore content if you need something more challenging.
Above you'll find a great example of some friends challenging dungeons without the use of a healer. Or wild Bluemage challenges. It's really only limited by your own imagination.
If all of that is too brain dead for you, there are other games.
You do understand that combat is not required to make a game a game, don't you?
When I want a break from this game, I usually play games have no combat involved (Cities: Skylines being my primary go-to).
If you want to say that FFXIV caters to players that prefer non-combat content, I can see some truth in that. But it also caters to players who want combat. It provides content for both, with a slight emphasis on the combat side since going through the portions of MSQ and class quests is required to unlock even the non-combat features.
SE want the game to appeal to a diverse group of players and that's fine. The only players that seem to have a problem with that are those who want to feel special for playing a difficult combat focused game and this game is too diverse to fill that desire.
If you don't want to be known for playing a game that caters to players you consider "braindead", then don't play that game. It's not going to change because you toss around juvenile insults thinking you will wound someone's vanity enough to force change. They don't care. If anything, the insults just rebound back on you making you even angrier because you're still not getting what you want.
It's not up to SE to give you what you want. It's up to you to find it.

It does as far as this one is concerned, seeing FF 14 is a story driven JRPG first and an MMO second. No matter what you believe, running from a to b to trigger a cutscene doesnt qualify as a game

Final Fantasy 4's opening mission is literally "Go to that town to trigger a cutscene". And that's while dealing with random encounters every 3-4 steps. I daresay the gameplay is has a bit improved.

If you find the gameplay monotonous, why do you continue to pay for and support the game? By paying, you're sending the message that overall you're satisfied with what you are calling monotonous gameplay.
There are so many other games out there to choose from. Are all of those games monotonous to you as well so you would rather spend your money here instead of on them?
Same question to you. Why are you still here paying for the game if you feel it is so bad? Why are you not spending your money on a game you feel is better? That's because Yoshi needs to get his headt out of his rear end and realize they have a mediocre MMO at best. As for casuals they still are a cancer. If you gave them FFXI they wouldn't know what to do like any other game. Only thing casuals know is how to be lazy incompetent RP'ers with nothing else to do but drag the good players down and cry for help. So sick of casuals ruing the MMO games to cater to them and Yoshi encourages because he doesn't have the guts to actually do something. Speaking of Yoshi only reason he has made many changes to the QoL of FFXIV was because people made tools to make the UI better and added much needed things then they ban the people AND then implement what they did. Goes to show Yoshi is not the greatest dev for the game and how he caters to cancerous casuals shows it. If people want something brain dead go play another game and if a braindead player gets shown they get called out. I am not sorry for stating the facts
