Templar's Cobalt Vambraces & Templar's Kite Shield Request!
I want to begin by stating that the Temple Knight set is my favorite glamour set currently in the game and has been since it first appeared in 1.0 via Faction Levequests and thereby rewarded to the player from Rowena.
I love the lore surrounding it, the meaning of wearing that armor, and the visual-style of it. I guess you can say, I'm a pretty passionate fan of Ishgard and their loyal knights.
Original Lodestone Lore Description
Worn by Ishgardian temple knights who have pledged their lives in service of the Fury, this suit of stunning silver plate and chain is an breathtaking display of master craftsmanship.
Original 1.0 Set
Now, I can't speak for anyone else, but I figured after seeing a lot of attention and dev responses for certain glamour requests recently, I figured I'd make one selfish request that I've been praying for since ARR launched.
I've been hanging onto my Templar outfit since 1.0 and have always used it as my main glamour for Paladin and Dragoon. The entire set is available to obtain to look like the Ishgardian Temple Knights, minus the lack of the Templar's Blue Cobalt Vambraces and the Templar's Kite Shield.
The House Fortempt and regular Cobalt Vambraces are what I've been using, but just aren't the same.
I know this request falls at the bottom of the bin in a long list of player requests in comparison to the more pressing matters around here, but I figured if I don't at least try and ask for something I really, really want, then no one will ever know or even attempt to make it a reality.
Ideas For Implementation
1) ~ Templar's Kite Shield ~
- A) This can either come from a side quest series dealing with the lore and stories that can be told about the Temple Knights and they're stories as protectors of Ishgard and Coerthas. The final reward can be the Templar Shield. I would find this option very enjoyable and interesting, since I have an affinity for Ishgard and the Templars ever since 1.0 revealed them.
- B) A faster idea for implementation is either as a Gold Saucer reward? An Aquapolis rewards. A crafted level 1 glamour item, or a level 44 item drop from Dzemael Darkhold, just like the rest of the Templar's set. It could also come from Diadem, somehow, as a random item reward when turning in lockboxes. Just some ideas to quickly add it in.
The item currently exists and doesn't need to be created from scratch, unlike most requested items; so implementing it as a player item and figuring out where to place it is the only work required.
2) ~ Templar's Cobalt Vambraces ~

This one is a bit tricky to explain, and I'll go into my reason why. This item actually used to be a real player item in 1.0, however, since ARR launched it became a dated item that no longer exists anymore.
It used to be a pair of Cobalt Vambraces that if you combined it with blue dye when crafting it would turn into a pair of Cobalt vambraces (Blue). These gloves would go on to become the now-famous Templar's Vambraces.
I know this because I made a pair for myself in 1.0 with triple materia melded to it before I knew what they would become in ARR.
Idiotically, I turned them in for the very first tomestones you could collect at ARR's launch for the last few pieces of Darklight gear I was missing for my character's Dragoon when they were still considered to be the best piece of gear in the game at that time as a 1.0 player.
Unfortunately, the only way to get them back is to have someone from the dev team copy/paste select-data from our character's 1.0 final save history to the same character (probably not even a possibility at this point in time), or by crafted a pair of Cobalt Vambraces as an Armorer and doing the best you can to make it look like the old blue style.
Which brings me to my first point...

- A) Update the current dye system to allow painting select parts of the gear that you cannot currently paint.
Example: The metal portion of several types of vambraces ONLY allow you to paint the clothed glove-portion. The metal part cannot be selected on any type of vambrace. There are many instances will more than just this gear that have this major issue of limited choice in customization.
I was hoping with the gain in more system memory after dropping the PS3 that this could be fixed in either Stormblood at some point (no rush!) or a later patch/expansion?
So, that's my first suggestion. It's not an easy thing to ask, but I think this suggestion would go even above and beyond just the piece of gear I'm asking for, but even go as far as to completely re-vitalize and revamp the entire dye system freedom of choice altogether with players being allowed to dye more various portions and whatnot on their characters.
Simplifying it further would be to have the dye system offer a "Portion A and Portion B" dye areas. This means that, for example, the metal portion of the dye could be considered Portion B, and the current cloth portion of the vambrace to be considered as Portion A. This means less work for the devs in expanded everything's dye area for all gear and still allows for more expanded freedom.
- B) The easiest and fasted solution is to just implement a level 1 recipe for a pair of Templar's Vambraces or make them a level 44 gear piece that also drops from Dzemael Darkshold, similar to the rest of the Templar's set. It can also drop from any of the suggestions mentioned in the Templar's Kite Shield section as well.
Conclusion
I think that's enough for suggestions and requests from me for awhile. I've just been wishing for this one for years. Since 2013 when ARR launched, to be more precise. No rush, but a word from the devs on this possibly happen would make my dream come true.
I don't mind waiting however long it takes, as long as I know someone out there is going to make it happen one day, I can be patient and wait when there's slow days at work for the XIV team.
Thanks for anyone who made it through my entire post and have a good day!
