Probably should be an option cause some of the crafting noises are pretty grating if you don't like or are averse to certain types of noise (grinding, metal against metal filing, sizzling).

I do offer a useful alternative in the meantime: Market boards in the residential area are 99.9999% of the time absolutely deserted and accessible via only a couple free teleports from a main cities Aetheryte. If you want quiet while you shop and market they are a good alternative and almost always have a retainer bell right next to them.

    The issue here seems twofold.

    1. The original request by the OP is perfectly fine and reasonable. A toggle for turning down crafting effects (or off) would be an excellent QoL and is something that absolutely should be made visible to the developers.
    2. The umbridge that people take with it is the tone and implication that crafters are doing it on purpose. I.E. "so you won't have to mute the entire word just to avoid crafters who are likely literally tone death, spam crafting in highly populated places"

The OP needs to realize that most people crafting don't even realize they exist, much less that they are bothered by the noise. People craft by the market-board because it's extremely convenient and quick, especially if you have a lot of crafting. Other places people tend to craft are scrip areas and the tomestone vendor.

The request of the developers is perfectly fine and justified, but please don't assume people are crafting just to trigger you. They are not! In absence of malice, the best action that can currently be taken is to use the marketboard where crafters are not (any secondary hub like Kugane, The Crystarium, or any housing district) until a fix can be added.

It's not that they can't they choose not too. It's been stated that they have no plans to do it. Me guess is, once they add that to houses, Inns become completely pointless since that's the last thing that can't go in a house. Personally I'd rather they do this. Inns are kinda pointless now as it is EXCEPT for glamours.

Actually, better idea, just make it part of the UI so I can add an item to the glamour dresser where-ever I am (albeit would still have to be at an aetheryte).

I never thought much about this, but it makes sense that the crafting sounds could be irritating for some. I don't see the harm in having an option for it, it's a reasonable request. It's sort of like the options to mute musical instruments or limit spell visual effects.

Yeah I agree the crafting sounds can definitely be grating if you're by a marketboard, having the request to hide crafting sounds would be nice and I think it would be fine. It can even be more hard, like OP said, for people to find a marketboard that doesn't have someone crafting by it if they are not able to easily go to a residential marketboard.

And I also understand how it is more convenient for people to craft by marketboards, because you can just easily grab the items you need, I do this as well. It would just be a nice thing to have to turn off other people's crafting noises for people who don't want to hear them.

Have been playing for a very long time now and yes sometimes people craft at a marketboard but no the vast majority dont do it on purpose. Why move when after buying the last piece you need for a recipy to craft it?
Also it happens hardly at every marketboard, to be honest its more of an exception that happens then a rule.
Personally i find another player crafting sounds irritating when i try to craft myself but thats where i just move so i dont hear it.

As to a toggle for crafting sounds, that's only possible if they are handled as a category by itself. Also now its crafting sounds next time its lalafel's emote spam, one specific skill sound and you could go on. What i want to say here is where do we stop putting in toggles for this or that? When does it become too much work to put in all the options?
If its very easy to do sure do it but we've learned that when it comes to coding its never that easy to do.

    Yup.

You need to realize that this issue isn't about the time devs have or don't have to implement the specific filters being asked for. This is about you playing and mmo, and players doing what players do. You and/or the OP are in an occupied zone where players are free to craft as they please. If this is bothersome to you, it is within your power to either utilize the options to reduce the noise, or move to an area that is less occupied.

If this is an issue for you and others, how do you handle everyday things like traffic, construction zones, a vacuum cleaner, or other noise disturbances you have no control over? Just imagine if life had the luxury of a mute button. How grand would that be? In an mmo you have that luxury, and I strongly suggest you take advantage of it. If you don't want to mute the entire game, then either deal with it, or use the other options available to you.

It's not that nonsensical, options exist to mute other player actions already.

I was curious about this since crafting and meteria melding sounds annoy me too, though not for any disability reason. the sounds themselves are annoying!

I did as others suggested, went into setting and lowered 'other players sounds' to 0. Lo and behold, no more annoying sounds! Yay!

So yes, it really IS as simple as that to solve the immediate issue of discomfort. And for those complaining of not hearing emotes and such; it's not PERMINENT silly. You can easily go back in and raise the silder till the next time you are crafting. Or just lower the general volume to like 5 or 10 if you want and the sounds will be very low. I mean just how high do you actually NEED for those silly emotes anyway? Most of them are pretty annoying by themselves. ;-)

Remember, the world is a mean place and doesn't owe you anything. Don't rely on others to make it better for you, find ways to do it yourself.
