    Slackers in Frontline

Sometimes I see total slackers in Frontline. Like hiding from combat, moving just enough to avoid the autoboot.

I will call them out, "Boot <t> hiding from combat" but it never works because few read callouts and many don't care. They get EXPs of tomestones no mater what.

It would probably help if both the EXPs AND tomestones scaled to your team's placing. I believe currently EXPs are Win > second or third but tomestones are fixed no mater the placing.

What do you do about slackers? What would you like to see done?

I votekick and some times report.
Honestly, they should make it so that below a certain reasonable dmg threshold disqualifies you from rewards. Even a paladin with awful luck and a bad team can put out 50k.

I like Kansene's idea of meeting certain thresholds to obtain rewards. Some minimum damage done with damage taken in consideration because there's not many scenarios a person will be doing near zero damage in a PvP game while also taking very little damage. Matches joined in progress can easily be filtered for those edge cases. It's non-participation and against the rules per https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...4efa39f992435a
If a new player does not get any rewards once or twice until they learn PvP abilities I think this is still worthwhile.

Thinking grand there should be some sort of soft-ban system for PvP where if you get reported enough times you're automatically temporarily banned from PvP until your games have been investigated. If punishment for abusing the system is extremely harsh, like receiving a big ban yourself, it might be safe. Like a community tribunal system! I know these systems have been harshly abused in other games so perhaps this is poor theory crafting.

Afraid that particular solution runs the problem of disqualifying people who DC and thus have their statistics and such completely reset; or join in as replacements near the end of the match as that's also been known to happen and is by no means their fault as it's very unlikely they'd even be able to get close to the action.

It might also potentially disqualify anyone who changes classes mid-match, though I'm less sure about that, and of course it'd need to account for how high the threshold even would be if it existed.

So yeah, I'm afraid such a thing wouldn't work out. As it stands, players have enough tools at their disposal to at least handle the blatant examples of bad sportsmanship. I'd just ask anyone who does use such a thing to at least give people some leeway before jumping to such measures, things do happen outside of the video game, and often during matches. If your team is playing right, you can compensate for slightly fewer active bodies in Frontline.

Agreed, someone can DC, just as someone can happen to join a match partway through. It could be possible for someone to join in this last minute, I don't suppose that isn't blocked - which might explain why someone has absolutely zero contribution or damage taken or healing done - which I have seen.

However, if by "things happening outside of the video game" - you mean that a pizza delivery/emergency/dog is throwing up and you need to leave during a match - sure life happens, deal with it, ideally leave FL or prepare to get kicked. Frontline will be there for you when you can participate.

Oh well, they can run it again? What's the issue here, that they DC'd, contributed nothing, and now have to reconnect and run it properly? So?

Believe it or not, easy queues are not a universal feature across DCs, even during prime time.

Besides, that phrasing was simply basic courtesy. Have seen people attempt to kick people for the most petty and impatient of reasons, and Frontline being Frontline; no one's going to look at the message prompt for longer than a second.
But hey, do what you will, I've already stated my point and I'm leaving it there.

this is just a symptom of a greater issue lol people just show up to grind for their stuff and leave, they don't care about a mode that is beyond broken.... and at that point really who can blame them?
but yeah, if they're putting in 0 effort kick em. (at least defend a objective, jfc)
