AT THIS POINT in World of Warcraft

Its crazy how if you look at the patch number for ffxiv at any given time, the problem the community has with the game is the same as the problems wows community had with the game when it had a similar patch number.

Like my biggest complaints with ffxiv are: class homogonizing, and what op said. And were at like 6.2 or 6.3

What was wows 6.2 / 6.3? Warlords of draenor. The expansion with great leveling, non existent solo only endgame outside raids, and classes so pruned you'd swear it was butchery. They even have garrisons

I mean, i dunno why people feel the need to compare WoW and FFXIV, outside of tab target combat, they both do their own thing. However I WILL say, as someone who cycles between both, Dragonflight is considerably more enjoyable than Endwalker has been so far.
I do also agree that Endwalker, content wise, feels a bit like WoD. Fairly barren. People will likely say they have loads to do, and that's fair, I'd assume they've not been playing since ARR like myself, and have kept up with FFXIV's patches since.
At the end of the day though, this is the nature of MMO's, they're always changing. They have their highs, and their lows. It just so happens FFXIV is in a low point right now and WoW is in a high point. Look at the Shadowlands/Shadowbringers era to see the opposite end of this. I've no doubt it'll flip again in the future.
Also the same relic step 2 times in a row is downright lazy design though, they didn't even try to do anything different.

also after writing this, I now understand why people compare the two lmao

We should also commend how frequent and in depth a lot of blizz updates to the community has been since df released is something amazing.

They said they play both. Both have positives and negatives. But some feel XIV has just a few more negatives in this current expac cycle for casual vets. It's not rocket surgery buddy.
Do you play other games? I bet you do. They don't have to be MMOs, but I bet you play something else and can make comparisons to some degree while also enjoying both.

Are you people exhausted with this dumb take? I see it too often, and nobody asked.

I see it all the time too, pretty much everywhere FFXIV has a presence. Shills hate it when their game gets some criticism. Unless they can add something decent to a discussion, I generally just blank them.

Eh, it's just another part of the MMO cycle. It's just your standard "just unsub, hater!" comment. You saw a lot of that back in 2012 in the WoW forums. Heck, you had comments like that when Lucian or whatever the moon expansion was called back in EQ since travel was a big part of that game and now you have a moonworld hub that just lets you teleport nearly anywhere you want regardless of faction. In a way, those sort of posts are cathartic, lol.

It's funny, because the complete opposite is true for the WoW community. They've taken the differences and discuss them, and Blizzard has even implemented some of those changes. Like the custom GUI.
The general consensus from the WoW community is that XIV has a lot of great features, but is riddled with nothing-burger content, and the classes/delays/snapshots are bad in comparison.

It's actually a great thing that a bunch of players briefly quit WoW to play XIV. It kinda opened their eyes to new systems, and hopefully nudged Blizzard in the right direction to some degree.

I still wish they'd do away with the popcorn swirly danger spam though. I thought DF would have taken a better approach to mechanic display and maybe sharpened some of the vague random swirlies. If we can commend anything from XIV, it's that they do a wonderful job (most of the time) of making the boss mechanics very engaging and clear.

To me it feels like WoW has better underlying systems to allow for future growth as it currently stands. Where XIV I can see struggling to keep up moving forward. Even if we get an insane amount of content, we'll still struggle with the slow jank. I look forward to seeing what Yoshi does with 7.0+.

Yes, let’s compare DF to EW. As of now, how much content is in WoW endgame? Limited WQs every 3 days and once a week, a community feast for casuals that takes 15 minutes, a dragon siege for casuals that takes 15 minutes, the same mythic + dungeons (4 are recycled old content dungeons), same raids from launch, renown that’s actually just rep x3 to exalted, open world elemental invasions for casuals to change gear to tier, Dragonriding that can be finished in one day (but can farm appearance options—can’t use any other mounts in DF), and the new casual trading post I log in to finish once a month. The new crafting in WoW is also casual content. The PvP is the same except now people can casually queue for rated games solo. So WoW has become really catered to casual players, but they don’t have more content that ffxiv. Just because WoW has a more structured daily/weekly hamster wheel doesn’t mean it’s more content.

FFXIV from 6.3 added Variant/criterion dungeons, deep dungeon, ultimate, new alliance raid, relics, new MSQ, Tataru adventures, new MSQ trial/extreme, new dungeon, dol/doh relics, beast tribes. DF and EW are basically the same with content and things to do. The only difference in my mind is that WoW has mythic+ dungeons with actual relevant gear. Other than that both games have dailies, like roulettes, pvp, hunts, can do fates for bicolor gemstones, farm relics, do crafting. It’s no different and both games are casual oriented this expansion. I saw your other casual content is the problem, but if it is why do you like Dragonflight so much better lol?

Right now I log in once a month in WoW for the trading post for about 3 hours to finish the monthly reward. Once a week I log into WoW for crafting quests. I finished everything needed to gear my main in WoW, finished all my renown, have my JC maxed and only working on knowledge. I log into ffxiv everyday and I still haven’t finished everything in ffxiv I need to do. So imo ffxiv has more to do than WoW atm.
