my friend quit because of lalafells

frist of all i don't want to hurt any lalafell feelings now with that out of the way i invited my friend to try out the game with the free login promo lately because he wanted to be a gladiator he started in ul duh so I followed him all the way and he has to do the main scenario quest and one of the very early quests is about nanamo where she was disguised as a peasant running around and freaking her bodyguards out so he did the quest but he was so creeped out by the tiny nanamo and the old bodyguard but i told him the story gets better but ul duh is city of the lalafells so he basically doesn't want to continue on because he found it too weird to have all these tiny people running around all over the place because it was really creepy and i tried telling him how much better the game becomes and it isnt just lalafells there are also viera and hrothgar but he also got bored since the combat early on is just one button and plus the lalafell that made him quit the game at level 8 while he was at black brush station and this is honestly such a shame because he was curious about the endgame raids when i showed him top but he can't get over lalafells look im not trying to shame lalafells or whatever but im just trying to get this off my chest because it sucks that my friend doesn't want to play this game peace

and, you may not want to tell your friend about schools... they are everywhere and have TONS of creepy little people in them...

well because children look normal but lalafells look like toddlers which is less than children

One, Lalafells aren't children. Nanamo herself is probably in her 30s. They are not human, they from another planet.

Nanamo is 21, and her naivite is played up earlier in the story to reflect her youthfulness.

Lolorito, however, is 64, and is probably the best example in the game for an elderly Lalafell.

In age (the obvious intended meaning there)? Yes. Language tends to the default to the most specific practical/common descriptor.

At both age 2 and 12, "child" is an appropriate descriptor, but when the child moves from an age where both are accurate to where only "child" is... then they've clearly matured to the 3+ range of "child". And while "child" still technically applies to a teen, as they're not yet an "adult" (threshold(s) subject to local sociocultural constructs), to call someone a "child" where "teen" would otherwise be as accurate, is an insult.


Alphinaud, for instance, starts the game looking like a teen. Does he look more or less matured, not knowing what one later would about Lalafells, than the average cleanshaven Lala?

Heck, do the latters' proportions, at least from human expectations, tend to look the older than even the children (between "toddlers" and "teens") seen in this game?


Personally, I don't find Lalas all that weird looking, since they're far enough past the uncanny valley for me not to ascribe any meaning to their proportions, but let's not jump on other posters (even a TitanClan persona) because you exempted a very obvious piece of meaning...
