    Azim and Nhaama

    Hi!

So originally I thought that Azim and Nhaama were different interpretations of the same mythical progenitor or story that Azeyma and Menphina were based on. Both Eorzean and Xaelan lore seemed in a sense equally derived from the same source.

But now we know that the Twelve are actually real. So the question becomes whether Azim and Nhaama were ever based on the same phenomenon in the first place or whether it really was a red herring all along.

I really hope that Thalia will explain this conundrum.

If the Twelve are affected by what people believe them to be, it's possible that Azim and Azeyma come from the same "seed of faith" but diverged and only the evolving lore of the latter is reflected among Eorzea's pantheon.

The Nhaama connection to it all is a little harder, yeah.

If you take the claim that they're 'not primals' at face value, then it's possible that various cultures derived their belief systems from encounters with the actual Twelve. In order for Ala Mhigo to attribute its foundation to the guidance of Rhalgr's star, they'd have to know that he actually had some connection to it. Likewise, perhaps Halone really did meet Thordan and tell him where to setup Ishgard.

If this is the case, then perhaps they had other interactions with various peoples as well. For example, perhaps Azeyma travelled to Othard and ended up being the inspiration for Azim. Likewise, I wonder if the Thavnarian 'old gods' had some connection to the Twelve as well. Their prayer, which we hear during the 6.0 MSQ, sounds very similar to a particular historical figure.

That prayer rang the Hydelean and things Dragons have said bell for me. Which I'm sure isn't mere coincidence.
