[dev1017] New Items for DoL: Bombs

So, unlike crafters we DoLs spend all our time out in the wild facing dangerous situations. Ok yes we have stealth, but it doesnt really make any sense that we would have this magic ability to become invisible and its really not much fun to use. So I thought, DoLs really need a better kind of mob control. Now, what if we had bombs, only useable by DoLs, that are for dealing with certain mobs/situations. These would be alchemist recipes and would break down thusly:

Smoke Bomb(self): Obscures your presence from sight-aggro mobs
    Stink Bomb(self): Repels certain monsters
Noise Bomb(self): Obscures your presence from sound-aggro mobs
Sleep Bomb: Sleeps all targets in range
Ink Bomb: Renders all targets in range temporarily blind
Stop Bomb: Renders all targets in range temporarily immobile

-only one can be active at a time
    -only useable by DoL
-only apply to user to prevent DoW/DoM exploitation

and so on and so forth

I just think it would be really fun way to get those tricky nodes or just to explore new areas and well...fun! You'd need to use the right bomb for the right situation and it'd be a nice boost to the gathering market and make DoL's even more badass, obvz. Any one else who would enjoy this? any other bomb ideas?

you already have stealth so none of that stuff is needed except the rare cases when you have to gather a grade 5 node that has aggro mobs (above lvl50)vat it, (most of those they already fixed so the mobs arent near the nodes anymore.

Definitely like the basic idea. Not a fan of the 'mostly, kind of invisible' mode for avoiding mobs, and would much rather have it be tactical. However, being the greedy bastard that I am, I'd like to take it one step further.

Don't stop at bombs. Noise bomb --> learn animal calls. (I am hereby assuming the Bestiary will be made) Hit the Call ability and select the animal you want to mimic. The animal you want to avoid will behave differently depending on if the call is of a prey, predator, peer, same, or unknown animal.

*Where I go too far --> craftable "< > Call (horns/flutes)", Bard levels increasing mimicking ability, Puppeteer increasing ventriloquism range.

In a less "bomb"-ish form, I'd like to have some Stink Sprays, Bug Repellents, Behemoth Odors, etc purchasable at camps, but would also like to have them easily made myself through Alchemy. Keep Smoke Bomb as Smoke Bomb. Naturally.

Odd thought: what if we could drop-off the majority of our inventories at camps. So... let's say I drop by camp Tranquil after grinding some moles. I drop off my pack full of DoW gear, skinning gear, and a bunch of skins, and pick up my Botanist bag, including a Dowsing Rod, my hatchet, my shears, my botanist journal, my casual (gathering) clothes, and my lures, snares, and calls. Inventory management after that becomes a cinch, especially if much needed UI improvements are added in addition to the equipable bags.

woah! gear bags are a great idea, especially for fishing. sort of liek the mannequin idea but for us DoLs, and we do tend to stick to one camp for long periods of time so camp-based isnt a bad idea. im partial to the idea of bombs cuz, well, you know, bombs are fun! Although beast whistles are actually a fucking hilarious idea and im totally down with it. They could be abilities we use like Stone Throw and we learn them through the guilds and/or quests

Thats exactly what made me start thinking about this. Our interactions with mobs (as in: the environment) should be part of the job. Not attack oriented, more clever and finessed.

Gear bags would be a pretty general thing, not just for DoL, of course. I'm not sure how close it would be to a mannequin system, honestly. I'm also not sure why SE would feel a need to call it something so complicated. Not to copy from WoW--I'm pretty sure hate the idea of carbon copies more than most if I had to guess--but gear sets worked just fine. All that can be done basically through revamped macros that don't give you a 'that slot is filled' error or the like when replacing the contents of a gear slot, if even that's necessary.

I'd still definitely keep all of those bombs as an option. I just wouldn't make them the baseline. If they're bombs, they should be bombs. Not wimpy little smokers or firecrackers -- though I would likely use firecrackers too! I'd like to reduce the number of abilities though. Having separate abilities for Stone Throw and the like aren't appealing to me. I'd much rather simply reach into my pouch that has maybe 5-7 items in it, because I put them there for this exact reason, pull out what I want with the immediate ability to use it in a logical manner (and maybe illogical through emotes(?)). I.e. I throw the stone and blow the horn and set the snare and not the other way around.

Still hoping we get moogles in 2.0...
"Get me my bag." "Kupo?" "Bag!" "Kupo..."

Not to suggest abuse of Moogles... I'd probably use them for mail anyways, or medium-range, between-party-members delivery. Have about 10 of them, characters in and of themselves, with building relationships with each... Ahh, that'd be fun...
