Well, so, for example: if someone is trying to unlock certain content, they may find themselves trying to use an online guide to figure out what sidequest they currently need to go through in order to get to that content. The online guides are not infallible, so there are times when said person therefore finds themselves unable to progress because they aren't given the correct NPC and quest to complete before they can complete the next step of what they're trying to do. A lot of content unlocking quests in XIV don't necessarily provide a clear path, so said person also ends up having to cross-reference other online guides or look at quest lists on websites, in order to find out exactly what is necessary, leading to a lot of effort required for something that should seemingly be low-effort.

It's not an unheard of scenario for any game, FFXIV included. We recently had a thread on this about a month or so ago (maybe less, maybe more?), as well, so I would say this is clearly something that could be worked on.
