Also forgot to mention, I know people in my circle that are actually perfectly fine with today's patch, especially relic step. Their mentality "I can take it easy with just dailies" shows the short term view they have. It's very disappointing to see the game go into that direction.

FF XIV has always taken pride in being a casual, easy going MMO, and I've never had an issue with it. In fact, that's a large reason why I've stuck with it for so long. But I do think that they are beginning to lean too far in that direction at this point. There needs to be a middle ground. Over time, they are giving me less reasons to stick around.

^ This. It's fine for a game to want to cater to a more casual audience, but why does it have to be so extreme? The game shouldn't be made exclusively for those who log in once every 2 or 4 months for new patches, play for a few days, and then quit again. There should be content and systems in the game for those who want to stick around too. People here seem to assume that anyone who wants to play more than once every four months wants the other extreme and is looking for a WoW-tier grind, but why can't we arrive at somewhere in the middle?

Except he has been saying this for years. Long before Endwalker. It isnt a bad sign at all, frankly, I applaud his stance. Burnout is a thing you know.

You have to be very confident in your game to tell players to go and try other games too in their free time and I think that confidence is misplaced.

Yoshida seems convinced that players will fill up on fast food content for a few weeks, go find another game to entertain them for the following downtime, then come rushing back excitedly when the next patch comes out. What will really happen is players will try other games, find some really good ones they can invest their time into ...and laugh at the idea of dropping their new hobby for PotD reskins, 5 minutes a day doing lopporit chores and more tome farm. It's ridiculous when you think about it, this is the content they expect will drag players back from their other games they were encouraged to try. Endwalkers initial success really went to their head.

Quitting FF14 was the best decision I made. I'm still here checking the forums for my daily entertainment, but I've been having a blast with other games and I wouldn't touch 6.35 with a ten foot pole.

It was also a pretty PR statement, iirc in reponse to lack of content?!

if he truely believed that, housing timer wouldnt exist, rewards wouldnt be frontloaded into daily roulettes to "punish" you for missing a day etc

"Just unsub" isnt a excuse for lack of content when you have game design that doesnt want you to unsub

I remember one time while working, I overheard my boss tell this one girl who was a compulsive complainer that he didn't want her in his office unless she had suggestions on how to improve whatever it was she was crying about. He also proceeded to tell her that if she was unhappy, she knows exactly where the door is.

You see, when you come here and mention the new content while simultaneously reaching for any reason you can find to rip on it, you're not making any suggestions. You're also not making yourself sound reasonable and open for conversation. All you are doing it whining. And in this echo chamber, you're doing it to farm likes and gather together a mob with the same mindset as you. In these cases, you can best believe I am going to echo exactly what my boss said to that girl, and tell you to just unsub. You contribute exactly zero of anything of benefit to the forum, and to the game. If you actively choose to not be part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

You bring in an air of negativity that implies it really doesn't matter what the dev team does. You will find something to complain about. If the hairstyle is short, it's another short hairstyle. If it's long, it clips or is another feminine hairdo. If the relic steps are extensive and uses FATEs, "OMG FATES! I don't even do those!" If it just uses tomestones, then it isn't grindy enough. If you are someone who simply cannot be pleased, then unsub. You are actively paying your own money to a game you do not support, and paying a dev team you do not like. You're also wasting your own time.

If you have suggestions on how to improve your experience in FFXIV then make them. However, do it without also adding, "Pfft, like they ever listen anyway." If this is how you feel. Unsub. You lot by the very definition of it, are a mob. Just sad in every way conceivable.

You know where the "just leave" heads you? Wildstar. People had criticism and the fanboys went "go play wow"

This is pretty indicative of what future expansions are going to be like. Enjoy your 1 hour of content every 4.5 months! Please understand!

And the people that defend it are the people that pay monthly sub to afk in limsa. I be honest, if i was square i'd do the same, why make content when you have hordes of people paying to afk

Telling people to quit does not solve the issue at hand. I can count so many MMORPGs whose playerbase told those "crybabies" to quit, only then they themselves complain that population is low and game is dead. People complaining is a valid form of criticism.
