Forgot...being happy with xiv makes you a white knight here. Neither you nor anyone else could quote n pinpoint me ever being a real whight knight. You simply dont like my views. I do find the lack of an exploration zone to be very disappointing. I started playing in April 2021 and Bozja was great content once I had completed the MSQ. Likewise, Eureka was really fun to the point in which it was the majority of my play time for a good 5-6 months of 2022 while otherwise just treating XIV as a story game. I'm not interested in playing savage or ultimate content so Endwalker is really lacking in comparison to Shadowbringers... and Dragonflight in terms of a competing product I can play right now.

This definitely feels like a Warlords of Draenor moment. I know it's not as drastic as an expansion being abandoned to the point in which we missed several major content patches, but it certainly feels like Square Enix are cashing in their good boy points to underdeliver in several areas because the community hasn't yet grown tired of waiting for the next patch/expansion. Yoshi-P has openly admitted to researching other MMOs to see what they do right and wrong in order to build a baseline for the initial reboot that was A Realm Reborn... maybe he needs to revisit that to see how players react when they grow tired of the developers bullshit.

World of Warcraft, a game that's twice as old as XIV give or take a few years, is a prime example of players can loose faith in the developers and how difficult that is to rebuild and regain. Dragonflight is a great starting point and there's a lot of changes from Blizzard, in terms of content developed and how they interact with the player base, but any bullshit will soon get called out if the devs try it again.

As for Square Enix, I don't have faith that 7.0 will bring many major changes to the patch cycle and the content we'll see. We've not yet reached a breaking point although it's arguably much closer now. I look forward to several live letters in which Yoshi-P shoots himself in the foot with more "healers should play ultimate" tier comments before he issues a trademark crying apology two weeks later.

A word of advice though, if you're in the waiting for a patch/expansion boat, PLEAVE LEAVE! Take it from someone that's played World of Warcraft since December 27th 2009, it's not worth the time, money or copium. There's a plethora of other games out there to play and while Yoshi-P even encourages this, weaponise this against Square Enix. If enough people just quit, they'd soon feel it in their bottom line.. and this game carries their financial results anyway so they'd very quickly wake the fuck up.

I think one of the big things that’s appearing annoying with the current patch content is there appears to be a disconnect between where the playerbase is and what the content is

I’m gonna leave out island sanctuary here because I think we all agree it’s kinda failed content in that it doesn’t do anything, it’s just a materia printer because you clicked on 3 menus the discord bot told you to

As for casual content EW gave us variant dungeons and a new deep dungeon, variant dungeons are cool but don’t really do anything, there is really no reason to repeat them and they kinda just exist, the deep dungeon is better but they didn’t really innovate on anything, it’s just another deep dungeon and unless you are one of the few who solos dungeons they aren’t really grindable, do we basically gave up Bozja/eureka which were endlessly grindable due to their horizontal progression to get POTD 3.0 and a dead on arrival new dungeon type

As for raiders raiders are actually doing well this expansion since we got 2 ultimates, savage, criterion and criterion savage (though the last 2 have a horrible reward structure)

So for the very large proportion of people that sit between “expert is the most engaging content of my day” and “I spend every waking moment progging TOP” we have basically lost all repeatable content this expansion leaving everything feeling boring and empty

I'm cautiously optimistic about whether they will stick the landing with the current raid series' story. I really hope they do. Haven't enjoyed a raid series story like this for a long, long time now. Eden seemed like it could have gone some great places, but it fell flat with me. Some people liked it though and that's fine. I did not. No comment on the other part of your post, however. lol

Weird enough, if the story kind of falls flat at the end....I wouldnt care as much if the Trials were fun and there are rewards I wanna work towards.
IDK, to me Raid storylines have never really been that engaging. I enjoyed or tolerate them for the most part, except Neir, I...just...couldnt care....but over time I think its because I have no love form Neir to begin with so I had not even the lightest amount of investment XD
But, Raid 2 & 3 I thought were FANTASTIC, while I hated the 1st Dungeon.
It happens.

I am engaged in Myths of the Realm though. I think its neat to Finally Interact with The Twelve

People have been saying this for YEARS now, but many refused to see it. Content kept getting scarcer and now with time between patches getting longer it's becoming even more obvious. At least, previously we got Eureka or Bozja, which were new areas with new systems and plenty of stuff to do, but this time we got a re-skin of PotD. Criterion Dungeons sounded nice until you realised that when you completed every path it was really your same old dungeon with the possibility to choose among 5 different bosses. Honestly, if simplified, it could have just been a normal dungeon, but these have a corridor or people get anxiety.

From my point of view there are two possibilities: either they have been growing rather complacent in every aspect for ages (which wouldn't surprise me since they get praised for releasing the same eating emote 4 times in a row and keep selling 20 euro mounts like there's no tomorrow) or they have been increasingly focusing resources and efforts on XVI, which, I fear, won't stop after release, since PC port and DLCs are probably a must.

At any rate, I sure hope they drop a content bomb before the next expansion because usually the content drought leading to an expansion is a pain (they used to save the Moogle treasure trove for these occasions and now they have to resort to it between patches, ouch!), but this time it will be hell.
