    I'll repost here.

    Not the best person to ask since I'm not a big grinder, But personally a small book like menu kind of like wondrous tales WITHOUT the RNG element of dungeons/trials/overworld zones to go explore/clear to get the necessary materials would be good. Anywhere from 15-25 sounds good to me, and the story behind why those areas/dungeons has to be tied into some BS about how the materials are special to this zone and why they are needed to make such a powerful relic so I don't feel like they are just sending me out for the hell of it.

    However, and this is opinion, to me relics should be lengthy to get because I believe they are special weapons and most normal people should get one for their main because of how hard they are to procure, that's what makes them "relics" or very special weapons. Alt jobs and such should be fine with tomestone/raid gear or someone can just be crazy and put the effort into multiple.

    What they shouldn't be imo is something so easy to get that I wonder if manually gathering the mats and crafting a market board set takes longer. Because, those are run of the mill armaments, and not special..



    For extra points every time you complete one or a few of these items you can go back to gerolt and embed them into your weapon, like if you have to get a gem for the weapon in X dungeon, imbue with power from X trial, you can go to Gerolt and just have him put it in for a whopping 2 ilvl increase or w/e % correlated to ilvl you have completed with the visual changes on the weapon, like the Hilt gets the gem and now it shows.

    Its detail oriented but I think it makes it more immersive to see the changes happening if you're into progression and not bulk hand ins.

    Step 1: Introduction and Story setting

    Step 2: Mild grind (Glowing weapon step)
    Variant Dungeons
    Normal Raids
    Roulettes.

    Step 3: Continued Storyline

    Step 4: Mild Grind (Glowing weapon step)
    Current XPAC fates, Normal Raids, Roulettes.

    Step 5: Continued Questline, setup for the finale.
    Normal Trial
    Extreme Trial with alternate rewards.

    Step 6: Finale (Complete Relic)
    24 man raid, around the same difficulty as current alliance raids
    Alternate Savage version like DRS with a unique mount reward


    This way you get a comprehensive story, Renewed focus on older content from the expansion that does not see much play, and a normal and extreme trial and a 24 man alliance raid with savage alternative.

    Now you have a relic that allows anyone to complete it, requires a small time investment in each, funnels players into content like Variant/Criterions and Normal Raids.

    This not only speeds up queue times for content that casual players enjoy to run, but gives options for better players to do Extreme and Savage versions of each trial/raid.

    I think there is a middle ground they could take with this. A "hard mode" and an "easy mode" option for players. The hard mode version is the grind component for players who want the grind while the easy mode option is just tomestones. I think that's a fair compromise.

    What makes a relic a relic?
    I guess it's kinda 3 things.

    1. The look.
    2. The stats. (when the relic belongs to current dlc)
    3. We have to do something to get it. The feel of reward. Memorilizable.

    So I think it's okay to make the 1st step with tomestones. That's just the base for the relic.
    Each further step should guarantee that you have to do something to improve this weapon.

    And here is the problem. To make the 2nd step also tomestones does not guarantee that you have to do something relic related.
    A lot of people already have enough tomestones to get the 2nd step right after the quest, without doing anything.

    Maybe they could have made some kind of books like in ARR. Just NOT such many!!! xD
    But, that at least everyone has to do something to improve the relic. :3
