Everyone loves to point out the "childlike" clause like it means anything (They're just youthful in appearance). A majority of lalafell in the story and in lore are treated like adults. Yoshi p has gone on record saying they can't depict children getting hurt in the narrative and why they cannot create actual children/child models to put in danger. The only people infantizing us is the playerbase. They are the ones who refuse us from things (normal or not) and constantly belittle lalafells in duty content. We get harassed nonstop.Square Enix designed lalafells to be “child-like” and their ages hard to determine. This item is fully congruent with the lore.
It’s not Square Enix’s fault that players have turned FFXIV into a platform for cybersex. It’s rated T, remember? Why would your character’s age matter at all? Hmm? Maybe players should actually play the game instead of using it for “quickies” at the Quicksand or their favorite venues?
We're tired of being treated like jokes, hence the furniture item, and tired of being treated like children as well.
I would say that picture is relevant because it literally expresses lore behind the race. The whole point is to be child like but not actual children. They're cute, small, chibi and very child like. I mean have you not read their names? It's literally wordplay like a child. There for them having childish things is relevant. I agree they are adults and practically midgets and people freaking out about them being 'lolis' or w/e is a bit much but to express such criticism isn't going to get you anywhere. Instead of lashing out, maybe try approaching this a little differently. They're not gonna remove or fix furniture otherwise they'd have fix the spiral staircase already and that thing been broken since 2.xEveryone loves to point out the "childlike" clause like it means anything (They're just youthful in appearance). Phyromancer should be a rapper and compete with eminem.
It's exactly what it says on the text you posted: a Lalafell can be of virtually any age and non-Lalafells will have trouble telling. What's lore accurate about them having "child-like countenance" (which is at most neoteny) isn't that Lalafells must be children: it just means non-Lalafells have the potential to be terrible people about it.
Again, it's extremely easy not to be a wet blanket over something that doesn't affect you.

I have to admit, opening the housing preview and seeing this did feel like a slap in the face. It feels extremely...against the point that the game tries to actually make, which is that lalafells can be adults who you should take seriously. I mean, can anyone actually imagine any of the major lalafell NPCs (especially the guys) sitting on a chair like this? I think if you suggested that someone like Teledji sat in a chair like this you'd end up with a death warrant.
If the item can't be redesigned, at least change the name to not mention Lalafells. This is really poor taste.![]()
