man you lalafell players need to get a better sense of humor
man you lalafell players need to get a better sense of humor
The only people having a problem with this seem to be RPers, seems par for the course
But yet they hold that cute adorable feel still, don't they? I said you can make a Lalafell a serious character if you want like SE did. They don't always have to be a joke but they can be and they're the perfect race for it.You lost me at "Meant to be a joke"
Krile, Nanamo, Pipin, Papalymo, Lolorito, Yuyuhase, Lamitt, etc... they're all jokes right? Have you really been playing this game?
No one's complaining that they can't be cute. We're complaining about being treated like children. And the "Lore" is that they're adults. Plain and simple.
The community would appreciate it if the design could be reconsidered, with a more neutral and mature look, to avoid the perception of being relegated to a "child's corner.
Some have even gone so far as to describe it as insulting, resembling a toddler's high chair rather than a proper piece of furniture.
While lalafels are indeed meant to have a child-like appearance, it is important to recognize the potential harm this can cause. Such behavior can be deeply demeaning to players and may even contribute to bullying or harassment. I strongly recommended that the development team consider updating the tooltip to remove any references to Lalafels or similar language. By taking steps to ensure that all players feel valued and respected, the Final Fantasy XIV community can foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. No one likes to have their favorite race for a video game to be devalued or made fun of in such a manner. There are better ways to do this which can be both funny and entertaining.
Making my second ever forum post to mark my spot in this absolute goldmine of a thread.

Ex-lala here.
Thanks SE... As if lalafells didnt suffer enough bullying, low-key racism, and other crap in game, right?
And for those saying that only lalafells are upset about this, thats exactly the point - I dont see other races being picked on as often as Lalafells - and most of the times its just because they are lalafells, no other reason. Its demeaning.
I just noticed this which is literally the same thing regardless of name. The first thing everyone used that Tree Slice Tower for was for their Miqote to have a cat tree. I guess the only thing missing is carrots for Viera and I'm sure they'll soon get it.
Also, I just remembered that Pipin is portrayed as an admiring adopted child so as serious as he is. . . he too is a child-like character

There's actually plenty of (very funny) in-game Lalafell comedy that revolves around their size (being too small they're preyed on by monsters, so small they fit in a travel bag or cooking pot, being compared to potatoes, being catapulted onto treetops, general slapstick) but so far zero about them being childlike or babies - that is not lore accurate and only seems to come from very annoying people.I also want to point out that Lalafells are meant to be a joke. A lot of cutscenes express them like cartoon characters. Even the villains have that cartoon villainy feel to them. I'm sorry you feel your Lalafells are being 'bullied' but that's the lore. You picked a race that's meant to be cute and silly and then complain about it. Either way, it doesn't mean you can't RP or play your lalafells differently. Go ahead and make them serious adult Rated-R characters. So in the end you picked a race that was literally made to be a certain way from the gecko so of course there are going to be items that represent that. Sorry to drop this bomb on you all but I advice getting over it and just nicely ask for better things.
It doesn't get clearer than this: it could be a funny joke if Lalafell players were not discriminated in-game when attempting to present as adults. Yet they are, so it's just punching down and perpetuating a harmful stereotype.
Then just change the chair name to High Chair and let the community decide if they want to use it for lalas or not, then it'll be the same thing as the Tree Slice Tower.
"Maybe people just like being humans"

Lalafells will always be looked as and treated as children. Removing this name isn't going to prevent anything. Even if SE did remove the name. . . people would do the same thing by using them as a 'lalafell sitting corner' and put lalafells in timeout. I mean people make a prison for lalafells and what not as it is. You think a name change of an item is going to prevent a what's already a meme? The community would appreciate it if the design could be reconsidered, with a more neutral and mature look, to avoid the perception of being relegated to a "child's corner.
