If I want to be more specific, I mentioned those because they are the areas of the game/gil making methods.

End game choices for players:
Crafting - not entered, requires easily 10-20+mil and hours of maintenance every patch. There are no crafters that say gil is useless.
Gathering - ^ same story, but more of a time sink as opposed to gil sink.
Housing - does not have what the vast majority of the playerbase is satisfied with (medium/large housing). Gil sink for crafter leveling or purchasing housing items. Noone seriously into housing says gil is useless when that is the #1 field that most people break ToS and RMT for.
Glams - Millions on dye's, crafting or gil sink locked for certain outfits. 20+ outfits and have spend 20+mil easy over time.
Gpose - Overlap with the Glam end-game. They also need gil for photography studios , updating sets with new items, seasons/holidays change, theme changes. Either you need gil, or someone you know needs gil to do this long-term as your enjoyment in most cases.
Roleplay - Glam, Gpose, and Housing overlap on gil costs +emotes/minions/mounts.
Deep Dungeons/Bozja/Eureka/Golden Saucer etc. - not considered end game for most people for sustained enjoyment.
Raiding - The reason I brought up savage raiding is because I know people that don't invest into traditional gil making methods because they sell raid clears and can earn tens of millions from that. But you're not going to be in a 7 man carry team and you don't have regular clears. So that's one gil method off the table. People that are hardcore into raiding also either need to be able to make their gear or have someone who can. Not only is that a gil sink either you or someone you know has to make, but also melding which is several million more since anyone treating raiding as an end-game isn't going to be waiting for Echo to be super strong.

Traditionally being able to be self-sufficient and not having to rely on other people for repairs and making gear is being called useless. I'm gonna scoff at that as that's the main reason most people level crafters that didn't want to originally.

If you want to say gil is useless to /you/, fine. But gil is useless point blank, is false.

People have assumed I put that out to brag about how much I make, when the message isn't meant for everyone here. It was for them specifically to go back into their linkshell and complain to everyone else selling in the bozja market who I was taking money from. When they can go into purchase history and get pissed off about it. That is a receipt related to external beef since they wanted to lie earlier in shout chat. But people wouldn't have context and want to comment on messages not meant for them.

It seems to me the issue isn't really in the game and in the item itself, more with the behaviour of the people. Yes, the chair looks childish, but then again, what is so wrong about that? If someone likes its esthetics, then who I am to judge them, as it doesn't do any harm to others. People judging others for doing "childish" things is just something you really shouldn't listen to in my eyes. For example, I love to play with LEGO which many people may consider childish, and as much as I respect their right to have opinion, I feel no need to listen to it. You don't have to use the item and you can ignore people that make you uncomfortable trying to mock you with that.
Then again, I perfectly understand all those who are just being disappointed for hoping they will get some other style of furniture.
And as for the RP community issues, the blame should once again go to the people. If they block you from RP for playing Lalas, do you really want to waste time with people prejudiced like that? Do you think they would somehow accept you more if not the chair? I am not convinced they would. And on the other hand, I feel forcing RP community to treat Lalas by default as adult could then feel insulting to those who enjoy playing more naive and childish characters. I think it would be a huge loss for our collective happiness, fantasy and sense of wonder, if we started forcing ourselves to automatically treat in-game races by some set rules. And it would be also hypocritical, as it would be on about the same level, as treating all of them immediately as children not even hearing the story crafted by the individual player.

It might be a shock to a lot of people, but this game was not designed for RP at all, it was designed as an MMO. The fact you RP in this game is a choice you make as a player with other players, and equally is their choice to accept what they want or don't want, the fact alot of people do not want to RP with your childlike character is their choice, I don't even blame them because if I was to RP I wouldn't want to RP with a childlike character either and I'm sure there are a lot more people that wouldn't want to either because that would just be weird let's be honest. This is the same in any RP environment on any game, people choose who they want to RP with, end of. Don't like it? Tough. You should be grateful that you have the ability to pursue what you like in this game.

Now I have no problem with what race you play, but this topic is ridiculous, the fact you are offended by a pixelated chair that you don't have to use, is completely ridiculous to me. I wish I had your problems in life. I mean forget starving people, homeless people, low income, loss of friends and family, inflation, recessions, and an endless number of other problems in the world and day-to-day life, these people are offended by an INGAME CHAIR...

It's really quite sad how soft-skinned the world has become and people feel so entitled just because they don't agree or like something that they can make demands of everyone else. Grow up. Life isn't fair, get over it. If people are causing you issues in the game you have something amazing called a blacklist, but I would also like to point out you are on the internet and people can and will say what they like on it.

Few things:

1) It's an MMORPG. Which stands for Role-Playing Game for the last three letters. It's in the actual copy paste meme that was a tweet from the official FF14 NA Account advertisement.

2) "That you don't have to use" -> Using it isn't the point. This is a strawman.

3) I love how people act as if cease and desist letters and defamation cases don't exist for online content. Imagine having millions of dollars going to lawyers and court proceedings every year over something a blacklist can fix, since that's the fix to all problems on the internet. I wonder what would've happened if the judge told Johnny Depp "life isn't fair, get over it". And before you say there's a difference between losing finances irl and just being called something mean, you should be aware that defamation per se is a legal term for cases that don't require financial loss etc. in order for the court to hear your case, which is active in 47 states of the U.S. iirc. All you need is allegations to fall into a specific category, one of which is criminal activity or moral turpitude, which the pedophile accusation that lalafell deal with occasionally would fall under. If we weren't under game aliases, half of this would be prosecutable at the state level. If you knew that person irl and said the same thing you said in game or on the forums to try to call out that person by name on Twitter/Facebook and you have no reasonable proof to justify your accusation, you'd be hit. That's why I had to call up a few law offices because I had defamation added with my doxxings when they went out and I had a choice if I wanted to spend a few thousand just to prove a point because people love hiding on the internet.

Not my fault people got uncomfortable with knowing more of content the developers put in the game and want to waste their energy coming out of the cracks in the wall to come after me instead of talking about the thread topic. I am being absolutely honest with you. I have skipped most of the posts because it makes me shake my head that people get upset about a housing item.

You are provocative, aggressive and arrogant in your texts, you bait the other side just as some bait you.

I am a former roleplayer and passionate lalafell. So far I have been treated negatively TWICE in a dungeon because of my character's race.

In two years of playing not much and probably you will grumble that I don't go savage raiding, don't have a house, only 4 jobs on lvl 90 and have no idea about the game, but in these two years I had mostly positive experiences as a lalafell player and I left the roleplaying community just because, no matter if German or English, roleplayers are scheming, lying and begrudging beings.

Theye are most of the time more toxic then the LoL-Community.

Are Lalafell adults? Yes. Do Lalafell have s.e.x? Probably. Do alot, i mean really alot of people dont want to picture that because the race has childlike feautures which makes many people uncomfortable with the idea of lalafell getting down to buisness? Yeah and its theyr right.

tolerance means, i tolerate something. It does not mean i accept something.

And to be on topic: The f-ing chair is a f-ing gimmik, a joke-item. Its meant in good fun but it seems most lalafell in this thread cant take a joke.
