I have no issues with the dumb chair, however..
Too many people blindly follow ideas or concepts of what's morally right without remotely trying to understand WHY things are the way they are. In this case in this case we protect children because they are children, not because they LOOK like children. We protect them because they cannot protect themselves physically or mentally from abusers. It is RIGHT to want to protect children, but these people are NOT and shouldn't be assumed as children, both the in game characters and the people behind their monitors.
Even beyond the scope of this line of thinking.. Anybody with basic critical thinking skill can understand the difference between real life and in game, and by extension fantasy and reality, players and roleplaying. Lest you also believe anybody that plays a thief also steals in real life, or pvpers are serial killers in real life, or anybody that involves themselves any kind of pre consenting "nonconsensual" role plays are also physical and/or sexual assaulters in real life.
The extreme extension of this aggressive argument carries over to ANY form of art as well, from drawings or animation, video games.. and suggests no forms of art should EVER contain ANY sort of immoral content, violent or sexual in nature, whether it be in in favor or even AGAINST such topics. All for what, select people that didn't want to take the time to differentiate fantasy from reality? That sucks.. Work things out, investigate, or at least don't pretend like you have any sort of investment. Don't be so ready to harass or judge people on potential lies or half truths. plz donut assume
Are you unironically trying to pull the "but they are secretly 3000 year old" argument?I have no issues with the dumb chair, however..

I wonder if the lalakarens here ever played other races. xD
Hyurs are vanilla, female Au'ra and Miqo'te are basic b****es, male Au'ra are groomers and edgelords, Elezen are giraffes, female Roes don't exist and every single Hrothgar is either a pink panther or a furry (or both). You are not special. lol
Every lala I know finds the chair funny. And if they added a Hroth-sized litter box I'd put that in a corner of my FC in a heartbeat for the lolz alone.
Give me a cardboard box first, then we'll talk.I wonder if the lalakarens here ever played other races. xD

I think it's definitely in bad taste and hypocritical when Yoshida openly admitted that in the world of FF14, lalafells should officially not be treated as children, but yet they also release what appears to be an infantilised highchair for a lalafell. The issue is consistency.
Yoshida can treat lalafells as children in game and it would be a perfect fit. But if Yoshida considers them as adults then the content within the game should reflect that, which the highchair goes against.
Many people play this game for escapism and roleplay where they are canonically adults, so it's quite bizarre that this object was placed in the game. It only fits as it does because of the assumptions and baggage that comes along with ff14 being a derivative work based off of reality, where lalafells have neotenised features and are based off of toddlers, so if you look at it from that perspective, it's a perfect fit.
My issue isn't that, it's with consistency. If Yoshida says they aren't children, then make it so Yoshida. If not, then please change your stance or outline more lore related reasons as to why this is in the game.
LOL! It's called Lalafell Lifter! Because when we Lalafells sit at an adult-sized chair, we are so small that we can't use the table properly!
So we need a lifter to help fix this issue - JUST LIKE TODDLERS IN REAL LIFE!
This is so funny! xD

Chair's fine. Apparently, Baby Kahori got over her hate for it and turned it into...a Windows tribute.
