You're a grown adult playing a "child-like" character for no reason other than the memes or because you want attention. The only logical solution left as to why you would play a character like this is for creepy reasons. It's not funny and never was funny. If you want to play a short race make the adults in-game as short as possible. LALAS are not the samething as dwarfs or midgets. They are children validated in the lore with childlike tendencies.

This statement is just blatantly false. I'm not entirely certain that you and I played the same game if you completed the main story and somehow emerged with this belief. There is literally a race identical to Lalafells referred to as dwarves that the MSQ forces you to interact with.

Secondly -

Physical appearance aside, (for now) and since you're dedicated to arguing semantics, the Lalafells in lore are far more often shown as intelligent, conniving bastards rather than helpless children. In fact, having played the MSQ and much of the side content I struggle to recall any examples of the latter save Nanamo whose entire arc is based on her growing up and learning how to deal with a great deal of responsibility. On that note, the Tarutarus of FFXI are far, far more childlike in mannerisms than the Lalafells of XIV and I don't think I've ever seen anyone accuse the entire Taru playerbase of being pedophiles (like you just did) likely because the XI community isn't afflicted with terminal brain rot and is able to separate fiction from reality.

Well, sorry for being in what seems like the minority of the playerbase that plays this game two-handed. I hope many of you in this thread gain a shred of common sense and understand that a player character in an MMO isn't implicitly sexual.

I never said it bothered me. There's nothing wrong with childlike whimsy, what I disagree with is the absurd notion that Lalafells are equivalent to real human children.

This is blatantly false and is one of the most common things people from NA say. Yoshi-P has already said on stream that lalafell are not children, they are not meant to even resemble children and had their design changed to be that way. The idea of have non-adults/children as playable characters was banned by higher up's due to rating from online interactions etc. Yoshi-P literally said on stream that lalafell don't even look like humans. It's only NA that has this problem of saying all lalafell look like children, but are too ignorant of the quests and content in game to realize they can't make that blanket statement without calling the developers pedophiles as well, or as a minimum that the developers put significant implied pedophilic content in their game in content, npc scripting and dialogue, and lore, which isn't much better politically. But people don't want to realize they should be careful with how they word things.

Dude, for real… the majority of people dictate how they feel and think based on real life not video game lore. Lalafells look like children, that’s just a fact.

It depends on point of view. I see lalafells as cartoony (most of times funny, but not necessarily) characters, personally (you know movies like Once Upon a Forest and similar, or the monchhicchis series right? For me there's no much difference aside the fact they are more human-like), even if we can't deny how they look and – considering I treat all my Lalafell characters seriously as my any other tall ones – sometimes I jokingly say too they look like babies when they, for example, jump.

Since I'm certain that fictional world is not real life, I don't make a big deal about it. And I'm sure I'm not the only one to do so but we simply stay silent. There's a huge part of the Lalafell community who is like me and don't have to be creepy about them or be the generic comic-relief-cute-popoto.

I want to add that I'm pretty sure a lot of people in this topic are having an hard time understanding that being an adult doesn't always imply sexual content.... or for best saying, everything is not made by sexual appeal.

Evil is in the eye of the beholder. It's a T rated game and it should be treated as such. I'm sorry, but if lalafell existence physically bothers lots of people here, it says a lot about them.

Lala lewders are a topic aside, but that's something I'm not involved and don't care, but it shouldn't be your point to insult anyone who plays the race.

To the lalafells who get seriously mocked, sad to say, but probably the problem is not the race you are playing, but what you do and how you act.

In three years and multiple Lala characters I never had any problem, just a lot of headpats, commendations and cute tells. Just once when I was a sprout not understanding the point of life got a Miqo'te machinist fire-throwing my lala while crafting but didn't really care. Mean people exist and will always exist no matter what race you are playing.

Anyways, is this really the right place to discuss over this?
