Change/Remove Lalafell "Lifter"...

In my next to 2k hours playing FFXIV, I have received a remarkable amount of hate for playing a Lalafell, even outside of game. Genuine hatred and vitriol. I could care less about the chair situation but I have been called... upsetting words for the race I play in a video game. I'm sure you know the word I'm referring to.

I'm curious, in what kind of situations are you called that specific word in-game? I find it incredible that someone would direct words like that at someone in FFXIV, considering how strict Square Enix is about harassment, and how well (from my PoV) moderate the community. I don't doubt that people will use that kind of language outside of the game, though.

I don't know if anyone disagrees about that here, but people are saying that said "harassment" is often overblown and exaggerated IN-GAME, or in many case fabricated. Some people claim some things are harassment when they are very much not.

Just to give a list of things I've seen related to lalafell/pedophile accusations:

- twitter posts of people with thousands of followers saying to block nsfw lalafells, spam report their twitter profile, and witch hunt anyone else that's related to/friends with them to basically exile them and their followers. (ask if you want links, as I was flooded with these about 2-3 months ago as it's mainly a gpose community behavior)

- youtube video links spammed in game with f2p accounts that can freely get banned without care recording venue discord conversations and advertising it as venue owners being pedophiles (search Ava Ashley ff14 on youtube, look for a profile with 85 subs but the last 3 videos have 2-3k views)

- on a personal level, I got doxxed on discord by a group of trolls that went into various venue discords with thousands of members to spam my personal information with accusations of calling me a pedophile that I had to get in contact with Discord to take care of

- ^ also related to this was mass-banning from a lot of prominent venue discords on Crystal so I'm waking up to Mee6 ban messages calling me a pedophile

- the venues and friends I had made on JP and investments I made there, which at the time amounted to around 40mil gil I gave to the main venue I was connected at disappeared as I later found out there was a "red flag" on me with the owner telling all staff to not interact or talk to me at all, and same applied to other venues on the data center so months of relationships I made went down the drain overnight

- my old venue owner partner not only got shunned by part of their friends, but also come to find people out people were spreading said accusations inside of their FC's. Anyone that has experience dealing with GM's knows that you can't file tickets on behalf of other people and it needs to be in a public environment. So if people consider you a pedophile or accuse you of being a pedophile, they're free to spread that in tells, linkshells, free company's, etc. as much as they want and there's nothing you can do about it. "Making statements that will hurt the reputation of someone in public areas, such as Say and Shout, search comments, Party Finder, and online video or streaming services."

- ^ in addition to that, both of us got random hate tells/had our network/friends also attacked such as: "oh you're working with the pedophile", "they disgust me, you should be careful who you associate with". that's outside of staff-related issues when a venue owner gets called a pedo

- There are networks of people in the venue community that I was made aware of that will track people with accusations or proof against them of pedophilia to see who all you interact with at various venues so now you're being stalked.

That sounds like great advice to me. NSFW lalafell is disgusting. They have toddler like bodies what the hell possesses people to make nsfw with them? Ostracising creepy weirdos is normal and I hope it continues, lala nsfw enjoyers can stay in exile where they belong thanks. I don't want anything to do with people like that at all.

Want to know what's funny about that? That you should probably uninstall the game in that case since it has nsfw references all over of lalafell being in nsfw situations. Dungeon of lalafell being sex victims, lalafell engaging in sex gossip, bragging about sex body counts, fantasizing and or being in romantic relationships with non-lalafell, oh and the official lore encyclopedia has a bit about one of the main villain characters of ShB that's a lalafell being head over heels wanting "to be seen as a real woman" by another person in the group sexually.

I don't see the issue with this part. If it was a nsfw lalafel twitter profile, then their followers knew what they were doing.

First case of in-game harassment. It's weird to be doing that, but this isn't exactly a random person walking to a random Lalafel, like how the Lalafels in this thread have made it seem like. The people in those videos are DEFINITELY very sus. I recognize one of them, and that venue creeped me out - now I know why.

It sounds like there's more to this .... This also doesn't really fit the narrative of Lalafels being randomly called pedos, and none of this seems to be in-game, either, except one weirdo making videos with unlimited accounts.

I think this is completely fine, because it isn't harassment. If someone suddenly /tells you something rude, then that's a different story

I think you're definitely engaged in something that makes people feel this way besides JUST being a Lalafel. I'd be interested to see screenshots of those tells, but this is a far cry from being randomly accused of it.

This seems kind of a self report, and makes me more grounded in my view that the only Lalafels that get 'harassment' are the ones engaged in NSFW activity.

[[ TL;DR - In my specific case, I was a venue owner around 1-1.5 years ago when a group of trolls got paid around 200mil to attack/blackmail venue owners. If you're on Aether, you'd recognize the names Fight Club, Spacebar, The Velvet Room, Babylon, The Syndicate, Succubares Insomnium etc. Some venues got hit with griefing in game, allegations of animal abuse, RMT, others got hit with fake documents of discord conversations, using the inspect tool to change profile pictures etc. to impersonate people. RP community in general is full of trauma victims that automatically believe accusations even without "the victim" being someone they can even see or know. Because I know about dealing with the consequences of being called a pedophile like what was originally complained about, I gave examples of what harassment could look like. It's not a simple 'block this person, problem solved', it can very quickly snowball into dealing with thousands of people depending on your individual community.]]

Yes and no. I'd have to get the link but there was a drama channel on youtube that read stories that got submitted to them and one included a lalafell in an FC that couldn't even post pictures in the FC discord of their character being in the bathing suit from the seasonal because it made people in the FC uncomfortable. While nearly guaranteed to happen for NSFW activity, even relatively innocent things in SFW, people can overreact to.

I don't know how these potatoes approach people and get harassment result. I have a potato alt at Balmung and never in my life people harassing me, instead they keep patting me whenever I approach them.

That's a disgusting thing to call someone, genuinely. I don't view Lalafells as children, mostly because... I play one, and I'm an adult. I model my character after myself, as in, my character looks like I do because I view her as an extension of myself. I do however disapprove of any content portraying Lalafells in a promiscuous light. I think that kind of thing is repulsive, moreso for Lalafells than the other races but I still think that kind of content, regardless of race, doesn't belong in this game.

I know it's a video game but going up to anyone and calling their character ugly or being actively hateful towards them because of the race they chose is weird. Most people would find the aforementioned behavior to be weird, except, for whatever reason, if you play Lalafell, in which chances are you'll be subject to that kind of harassment on a frequent basis. Tell me to touch grass all you want, but I read FFXIV stuff on Twitter, Reddit and 4chan and after this whole debacle I've seen all of them chock full of hate towards Lala players. When it comes to touching grass, I think people who feel actual hatred towards a silly video game race need to breathe fresh air.

You're a grown adult playing a "child-like" character for no reason other than the memes or because you want attention. The only logical solution left as to why you would play a character like this is for creepy reasons. It's not funny and never was funny. If you want to play a short race make the adults in-game as short as possible. LALAS are not the samething as dwarfs or midgets. They are children validated in the lore with childlike tendencies.
