Join date on forum doesn't reflect actual character creation date. It's just the day they joined the forum. Pointing that out since mine isn't accurate to my actual start date either.

I genuinely did not know that. I guess because I joined the forum (and didn't post anything for years) at the same time I started playing I assumed they were connected. My bad (in that regard).

Not to detract from your main argument, but according to your Lodestone, you started playing somewhere around May 2020, and joined the forums 3 months afterwards. You're right that it's not exactly accurate, but it's pretty close.
Conversely, and in support of your argument, the person Denhith was talking about started playing roughly on June 2020, but joined the forums almost two years later.

This information is pretty public in the Lodestone by default, for better or worse.

Edit: If you, or anyone else, prefer to keep that information to yourself, all you have to do is log into the Lodestone, then click on on your character's portrait, and go to Character Settings. Once there, you can make your Achievements private. Sorting the achievements from oldest to newest is the best way to tell when someone started playing the game, give or take.




Realistically, I doubt a lot of people would go through the trouble. But I figured I'd share that, in case anyone was curious.

I was just adding to what you were saying, since the forum join date vs the actual join date was a discussion topic earlier in the thread. I just brought up the fact you can use the Lodestone to gather that information, without having to resort to speculation.

I quoted you in my previous post, because you mentioned your forum join date differed from your game one, and I was just curious about the dates; but my post wasn't meant to throw shade at you or demerit what you were saying.

I find that not a lot of people know about the Lodestone's functionalities as a whole, and I felt it was a good opportunity to bring it up. Apologies if you felt my comment was too targeted towards you, it was just an example for anyone else who was curious about the topic itself.

Fair enough. Should re-read your post then since it definitely came off differently to me than just educating people since I'm not sure why my specific time difference mattered in the first place to use in your post (since nyself and the others involved were discussing the OPs time) or why the comment of needing to hide info was directed at me at all (since I never said i wanted or needed to in the first place). If you had removed all that and just had the general instructions for everyone (without specifying me) for how to hide the info then I wouldn't be taking it as something negative. That's all.

It wasn't directed at you... I said that if you, or anyone else, felt like keeping that information private, they can do so with the steps I posted. I didn't mean to imply you had anything to hide, nor did I intend to word that in a hostile manner. Like I said in my previous post, I quoted you because you were the one who brought up the fact first, and just used it as an example. I also ended up supporting your main argument by pointing out two examples.

I will retract and delete my original post, if it makes you feel better. I just think you inferred and assumed what my intent was, and responded a bit defensively over something that wasn't meant to be an attack.
