I still don’t think even today they could actually produce what they promised legacy to beGive me what 1.0 was meant to be, not what it ended up being.
Like 1.0 was meant to be massive in map size and interconnected and no loading zones. But what that really translated into was locations outside of the main cities being copy-pasted as said locations were mostly an aetheryte and a tent and a npc, along with 'loading tunnels' that were meant to mask how stuff was unloaded like if you went from Ul'dah to Thanalan.
At least with Exploration Zones, it felt new with some progress steps visually. Say what you want about Eureka but the zones had a sense of unknown and danger to them that made them interesting.
And I'd rather do a NM train and grind for lost actions. That to me is fun.
No matter who you cut it, there's always going to be a "grind" for relic because that's how it's designed to be. A long process to get the final expansion weapon. And tbh, relics have never been hard, just grindy.
The way they have them now is so boring. I have no attachment to the weapon because I just drop the tomes to buy it from my daily routines. Mandeville is cool and all but attaching it to a relic weapon is a choice.
Eureka and Bozja at least has some creavitity put into it.
ARR was the true grind hell tho.
HW was okay.
An an example Bozja gave us Red Choctober which was a big talk during the release along with some heavy punishing fights, it was something impressive with horde of players making comments, dying left and right and so on. Yeah people would say it is just an instance where you spam FATEs but at least it had stuff going on.At least with Exploration Zones, it felt new with some progress steps visually. It's not just that it's tomestones. It's that its such a trivial number of them that I logged in and was basically handed a relic upgrade for free. I was expecting this to give me something to do.
Even if this was 15000 tomestones rather than 1500 why did it have to be uncapped tomestones, do we really need another incentive to run expert, Crystal tower and the MSQ roulette
Even poetics would have been better because you can earn poetics from just about anything, capped tomestones are earned almost exclusively from the duties that least need further incentivising
Bozja was just content that had relics tacked on to it. It would have functioned just aswell without relic. Infact, the relic parts of bozja are the least lasting content thanks to how delubrum was designed.
If I want to experience the most riveting content this game has to offer, a relic weapon, of any expansion, is the last thing I go after.
It's boring, sure, but for what? Arguably nice looking, ok-alright weapon. Useful for gameplay, useful as glamour, I think that is good deal.
If it was poetics, it would be the same situation we're in now. I don't see how it would be any better. It'd actually be easier, since as you said, you get poetics from everything.Even if this was 15000 tomestones rather than 1500 why did it have to be uncapped tomestones, do we really need another incentive to run expert, Crystal tower and the MSQ roulette

And if it were with the limited tomes, it would take 4 weeks of gated content to get a relic. And it would still be a tome farm. Just a time gated farm.
Well poetics drop from everything, eureka, old content, new content, everything, uncapped tomestones just funnels you into the same over saturated content we already do like the expert rouletteIf it was poetics, it would be the same situation we're in now. I’m not saying poetics is good, im saying stepping on a rock is better than stepping on a nail, just that uncapped is probably the worst of the three main tomestones to use because it’s not like anyone needs incentives to run crystal tower, MSQ, expert and hunts
