Well yes but the previous relic which had nothing to do with the current expansion at the time which was HW could be used to progress on the relic of the current expansion, a feature we do not have anymore for any expansions afterwards.
So if you have grinded your ARR relic prior to it you will have basically skipped a whole step.
One could say "but the stats of my old relic" let's be frank everyone wasn't even using it for their BIS at that time and trading it in to skip a step is a no-brainer since you can just get a replica if you wanted to glam it.

Why would I want to play a game as a Second Life bimbo with an exaggerated body shape and Disney fan-fiction outfits, while everyone else see's me as a generic unglammed character?

The whole point of playing an MMO is playing with other people. There's no point if I'm the only one who sees it. You're literally living in your own world, as if you've stumbled out of your basement flat with unkempt hair after going three weeks without showering, but you've convinced yourself you're a glamour model because that's what you see.

You're doing it for the gpose shots that only you can see, so you can post them to social media. So yes, it IS literally playing a different game, because it's not playing FF14.

This game is already devoid of a good chunk of Final Fantasy charm beyond superficial fluff. It's already second life with some raids to make people feel like it's still a MMORPG once you catch up with MSQ.

Why get a relic at all then?

Well, in past expansions, to give me something to do in the game between patches.. and a nice glowy weapon for my main job to go into the next expansion with.

The first two steps of the shb relic were useless trash aswell. If you just want to have something to do then just farm more of them. There you have something to do.

As I said, i dont want to just farm tomes doing the same roulettes over and over again. ShB first step was trash, but the 2nd step was Bozja which actually took a couple of weeks of effort (which i know people are allergic to).

My happiest time in the game was during Stormblood, just casually logging in and working on my Eureka relic. Made some good friends and communities through that. (Isnt that what MMOs are supposed to be about?) Just logging in to do the same roulettes day after day and grinding tomes isnt the same at all, no matter how many weapons you want to do.

And I dont want to get a relic for all 19 jobs. The vast majority of jobs I level to 90 and then don't touch until the next expansion (because theres no max level content to do on them (this is what the relic should be!!) outside of raiding).

That’s your own personal choice. But we shouldn’t have to make the content grindy af for a person who only wants one so that it’s 19x worse for people who take full advantage of the class system.

Those of you who just want to buy a weapon with tomes can already do that. They shouldn't ruin content people enjoy for lazy players who dont want to put effort in either.

Levelling jobs and getting the relic for each of those jobs is something to do until the next expansion. Something you said you're looking for.

But you also said you refuse to get a relic for more than your main class.

You want more to do? Farm more relics since it's so easy. Doesn't matter if you use the classes or not. Something to do. If you refuse that, then I really don't care about your complaint, since it's the effect of your own choices. Unless you're allergic to the effort.

As cool is Eureka was my main gripe with it (aside from the insane grind that it was) is that it didn't let me be in que for roulettes while inside. This step working this way basically lets people "casually log in and work on their relics" without being confined to a specific exploratory zone. You don't have to do roulettes if you don't want to. There are other options for getting tomestones. This relic step doesn't lock you out of the rest of the game and I really enjoy that. Now if people wanted more pieces to this step that's a somewhat fair critique/request, but I personally really like that it is so open. Especially considering you have to do all of Hildibrand just to get access.
