I don't mind the step too much, and I think there's positives to it, but can't deny that you've got a point there.the difference was:
new content
new areas to explore
new actions to play with
new progression system
not running the same roulettes as the last 3 xpacs
biggest raid ever at the end
relic armor
pazuzu
hundreds of ppl killing NMs
now i can queue roulettes or do hunt trains. same thing i have done all xpac bc there is nothing else to do. the only replayable battle content is queueing for raids where u fight a boss in a tiny circle with comically large hit boxes.

You left out the part where in the later one you only have to do it for about 5 minutes to get what you need

Well that 'former glory' of a relic quest funneled people into content that they otherwise wouldn't do.
And why even list Variant dungeons in the 'choose any of this content' when nobody does that as content at all.

Yeah, for your first one, and only if you're already capped.
If you could tell me how to get 1500 tomes in 5 minutes for all my relics after the first one, I'd love to hear it. o:

A hunt train, you can cap about 3 relics in 2 hours and it’s completely brainless
Relic content shouldn’t be this quick and easy, it’s not designed to be for people who do all 19 of them

Yes relics were not meant to have all of them done. Square launched all 13 anima relics together, just try to do all 13 launch anima before the nerf, you’d probably still be doing them now, the zeta relics were just as bad and don’t get me started on the legacy or 11 relics
Substituting a pathetically tiny “grind” by just pointlessly getting every relic is not content, is this really an argument people are making now
