I figure why when I can make a big 'ol grindfest out of it, and draw it over the course of the next couple of weeks?

I know these kind of things aren't for everyone, but if you're not doing much other than hammering away at roulettes and cherry picking other content like an occasional Unreal Trial, treasure dungeons, relic steps, Alliance raid, hunts, PvP etc. then I figure why not give yourself something that will really eat up some time? There's just something about a grind that gives you such a euphoric sense of accomplishment when done that makes it worth it, so I decided to do it without spending any gil other than for things like teleportation costs. Even writing out everything I needed took me almost an hour xD.

    --------------------------
Items needed to craft all tools and gear:

    Craftsman Alkahest x67
    Rutilated Quartz x17
    Ilmenite Ingot x85
    Bayberry Cloth x28
    Titanboa Leather x31
    Zoisite x52
    Paldao Lumber x41

    This all breaks down to:
    ------------------
    Scrip items:
Gripgel x119 (59,500 white crafter scrips)
Immutable Solution x119 (14,875 purple crafter scrips)
Earthbreak Aethersand x138 (41,400 purple gatherer scrips)

    --------------------
    Tomestone items:

    Hanish Varnish x82
    Vanudinite x170
    Thavnairian Almandine x34
    Palebloom Kudzu Cloth x56
    Titanboa Skin x 62

Total tomes of Astronomy = 8,080
*I actually already had all of this since I eventually ran out of things to spend these tomes on from the daily roulettes*

    ---------------------------
    Gatherable items:

    Mornveil treebark x164
    Paldao log x164
    Ilmenite x425
    Raw Zoisite x208
    Raw Rutilated Quartz x85
    Bayberry x140
    Haritaki x155

All of this can be gathered in a day or two depending on how much time in game you want to spend towards it.
    ----------------------

The biggest time sink are the scrips, which requires countless hours of monotonous gathering and crafting. I didn't even include the gathering and crafting needed to make the food you require to meet the requirements. A grind wouldn't be a grind without these things though, now would it? You quickly figure out the most efficient methods to acquire the scrips. The hardest part is not giving into temptation on just buying, or partially buying some of the things you need.

Goal is to complete the grind, glamour and meld in two weeks while maintaining normal RL routine.

Since 6.35 is a mid-patch, I can wait for its content until the grind is done. 6.4 is still a ways off.

    Oh, and thanks for reading
This is the kind of grind I'm ok with. A clearly achievable one that you can make daily or weekly progress to. While some of those gathering mats are on timers, they're on timers every single hour not once a day.

I got lucky and got a leg piece someone mis-inputted into the MB (like 20K instead of 200K) so that's one less piece.

For anyone wanting to attempt this as well, just a reminder: This will be the final crafted DoH/DoL gear for the expansion and it will take you into lvl 100 in the next expansion easily.

Are you going to grind for materia too or let that be something bought?
I have most of the materia already for the most part. Since we can't pentameld all of the current highest grade materia, everything that is grade IX and below I have an abundance of as we get quite a bit of it from materia extraction, and getting to a point where excess scrips are spent on materia due to not having anything else of worth to spend them on. I'll still have to grind some scrips for the grade X's though.

even housing items dont sell for much this and last patch and there's usually a market to corner there from sheer volume
I don't think I could pull in that kind of gil in a week with my playtime. I only mentioned that I could make the gil back faster than it would take to gather all the materials and craft everything up. But making a million gil a day is totally possible if willing to put in the time and effort. You essentially have to set up camp at a marketboard and take advantage of the convenience players seek when they are unwilling to put in the time for items/materials. You need to send your retainers out constantly, and have several of them. Getting lucky here and there helps too.

Indeed. I do this grind once per expansion once the final set of DoL/DoH are released. I also don't pentameld until this time as well so I don't burn up all my materia on a set that will get outdated in the same expansion.

Timed nodes are interesting. When you are mass gathering for a grind like this, a node you need is always up. You essentially make rounds all over the areas of the current expansion with enough time in between for your GP to recharge fully without needing a cordial. Cordials are only needed if you are late to a node and the next one if going to pop before your GP can recharge.

Even for collectables for the purple scrip grind the nodes are set up this way, and it's game of RNG getting anywhere from 4-8 collectables per node. This is actually my favorite part of the grind because there is something tranquil about gathering in this manner. There is usually a couple of other players doing the same thing, and emotes are often exchanged, and you get to enjoy the scenery and the music. I love it.

Haha, you may not want to see a scrip or collectible again when you get done with all the gripgel and immutable solution.

Btw, not sure where your current gear and stats are but you can get earthbreak aethersand fairly easily from aetherial reduction to save on having to farm some scrips. Especially if you have a fisher. You can spearfish guppies for sands in the new Bronze Lake location and also get sands from their predator, Nosceasaur.

Didn't bother with the tools and offhand.

Then I started on the right hand side of the new stuff. Managed 2 rings and started the earing before I ran out of purple crafting scrip. I'll get more of that in 11 hours, so I'll pick up then.
Nice job! Every step forward is a step towards your goal. Keep at it.

Oh, thanks for the tip! Garland tools didn't mention aetherial reduction can be used to acquire the sands, and they're usually a pretty reliable source. Luckily I didn't put too much time into farming those scrips, but it was also one of the easier and more relaxing portions of this grind.

Oh, it's there, it's hidden rather badly, I'm sure there's some logic to it, that site always makes me feel like I've gone through 12 steps to get to something that could take 1.

Meanwhile I've gotten distracted by starting on the new relic, the first tool we've ever been offered with this kind of special effect, it's a curious thing indeed.
