Final Fantasy XIV was based on standards of the genre set by Wrath of the Lich King and took with it its worst baggage: players being fed hand to mouth for all content in the game. As such, there's a limited pool of funds that companies can spend on these games. Blizzard took the raiding route and Square Enix took the single-player storyline route. Both are mutually exclusive. And since both games have made heavy sacrifices (Blizz for casual content, Square for endgame), fans of both are equally discontent at their own games. They deal with it differently: because WoW is an aggressive raiding game, fans are as vocal as they are during prog. Because FFXIV prizes itself on being casual-friendly, positive all the time and "non-toxic", fans simply stand idle while playing other games.

Perhaps it wasn't wise for Yoshida to clone the WoW model! If you copy someone else's homework, you risk copying the wrong answer...

I feel like people overstate the "lack of casual content" in WoW. Granted there, for some reason, is now less casual content in Dragonflight than there is in Shadowlands. Shadowlands had alot of stuff for non-raiders to grind out in terms of vanity items. I feel like when FF14 players talk about casual content it always comes off as "content i can do while half afk with 1 hand, preferably while i sit in town"

Thanks, I may give it a try because some of the features really do sound cool to me. I always take forum posts with a grain of salt because it's usually just people complaining for the sake of complaining. Which is exactly what we have on this forum, so it's no different.

I will say though, it was kind of funny reading your previous post about how bored you are here and one of the top threads on the WoW forums that I initially chose not to link here was literally titled: Bored Already? What would keep you playing?

So, yeah, grass is always greener...

You see, WoW players have conditioned themselves for years that everything blizzard does is bad and needs to be complained about, at the start of dragonflight people ran out of things to complain so they had to make up potential issues in the future to complain about, "BUT WHAT IF X HAPPENS???" was everywhere. Now they are back to recycling the same buzzword ridden complaints theyve done for years because its so ingrained in their brain.

Like how on the FF14 side people are so conditioned to blindly defend everything square does.

Ultimately, both games have their goods and bads, WoW is currently in a very good spot, F14 is currently in a not so good spot

I complained about this in other thread but i'll post here too. The new loporrit beast tribe emote is incredibly lazy and cheap to the point of being insulting on Vieras. Seriously???? If animating my RABBIT EARS is too much work please don't sloppily attach another pair to my head, just come up with another emote as a reward then. This is not the kind of quality the devs should see as ''acceptable''.

Viera and Hrothgar are just a sorry excuse for playable races, with even more excuses thown around why they cant have this and that by both fanboys and square. I had to switch off Hroth and Viera eventually, as much as i love how gear look on bunboys, the lack of hats when there are at least 3 jobs that are "iconic" for their hats is an insult. And its not like they cant make them work, there are already hats that do both cut off the ears or just let them clip through, its pure laziness on their part. Then Hroths barely get any hairstyles and alot of viera hairstyles give them a big 4head

The reason that we don't have hats isn't ear clipping anymore, its because vieras don't have hair morph for hats. Gear that show no hair at all can be worn with no regards to clipping(Krile's hood has hair but its part of the gear and can be dyed separately as shown in the pic.). It's pretty sad.

I remember when they said Male Viera is them future proofing the race or something along those lines. Future proofing for more let downs i guess

Not even winning big catpot, pathetic. I have been playing for 2 years and already have two rings. Until you get them, you still have content to do.

If you compare 5.1 - 5.3 to 6.1 to 6.3 outside of the southern front. Endwalker is giving more content types and done more QoL etc in general. Granted not disputing it needs fo have a longer term reward cycle but variety of content it has it beat so far.
