I have all 3 so don't really have any issues, but I think no one should disparage any particular way to play as being terrible or trash, as some have done. I mean, I love PC and consoles equally and, to be honest with recent PC ports, no matter the power of the PC, if the port is terrible, console may just be the 'best' way to play, at least until PC port optimization or patches.
I agree, Square Enix has been pretty bad with some of their PC ports recently and that is why I worry about FF16 not being a PC launch title as we may end up with a subpar port that is poorly optimized and takes 3rd party mods and tools to make the experience good. As for building a PC, 100% agree, you won't be able to build a comparable PC for $500, but at the same time you have access to a wider variety of games and features you may not be able to have with just a console. That being said, you can still build a pretty decent rig for ~$800 and even less if you are willing to go on the second hand market for things.
