Then explain why we even have consoles in the first place then? Its absolutely to sell consoles and I'm pretty sure SE has made some deals to have their game be exclusive for it for a set time. This has always been the case for the FF series.

As for exclusivity, that's not uncommon anymore. A lot of game developers will make those deals. It's a way to make sure they will profit from a title, as relying on pure sales may not pan out if the game is not as well received as they might have anticipated. Heck, exclusivity deals are basically the only thing keeping the Epic platform alive. The practice is quite harmful to the gaming industry, but it isn't going anywhere until a financial reason is given for it to cease.

Would you care to explain in what way I answered my own question? You asserted that SE is trying to push consoles. I observed they are not, instead pointing out the underlying purpose behind exclusivity deals. Do you also think SE was trying to push the Epic platform by making Strangers of Paradise exclusive on it?

You do realize a deal involves the benefits for both of the parties right? So yes indeed they make the deal in order to drive sales for their game and for SE to drive sales for a PS5 thats how exclusivity works.

Forgot to mention this but this practice has always been SE's MO ever since they moved on from Nintendo for FFVII with Sony. Its been their home platform for the launch of all their main titles.

You're missing the point in what I am saying (or more likely intentionally ignoring it, as is common on these forums). I am not saying this doesn't help push consoles. I am saying that was not SE's purpose in it. What I am telling you is that SE is primarily only in it for the up front money, and that the side-effect of the deal is a potential increase in console sales. Sony is making the deal in part for the sake of increased revenue from console sales and in part so they can take most of the game's expected revenue for themselves, having already paid SE off.

So we're just gonna gloss over the fact your initial reply was to tell me I was wrong only to then start saying we're agreeing when my assertion hasn't changed at all from the start. Aight. Moving on indeed.

Anywho, returning to the topic at hand, it seems pretty unlikely FFXVI will remain a Playstation exclusive if it is successful. There's no telling how long the exclusivity deal has them locked down for, but uh... PC is by far the largest gaming platform at this point. I have a hard time believing SE would pass up the opportunity to make even more money on it, especially with how simple it (usually) is to convert things from Playstation to PC at this point in time. Now if it bombs? Yeah, probably won't see a PC release. Wouldn't be lucrative.
