Do you think SE is somehow a major contributor to Playstation sales? Because there's really no reason for anyone to assume that given how many different companies, including Sony themselves, put out titles for the console. They have a long-standing relationship with Sony, but that doesn't mean they're for some reason trying to push the Playstation super hard without some underlying cause.

As for exclusivity, that's not uncommon. A lot of game developers will make those deals. It's a way to make sure they will profit from a title, as relying on pure sales may not pan out if the game is not as well received as they might have anticipated. Heck, exclusivity deals are basically the only thing keeping the Epic platform alive.

I also play a lot of strategy games that only release on pc and work much better on m+kb than on controller.

Also there was an article recently where YoshiP explained why the timed exclusive.

Edit: Reading back, it's probably more accurate to say it was "one of the big reasons" why the timed exclusive rather than my implied singular reason.

It's actually been getting criticized quite a bit lately, although some of that probably has more to do with current job design than the actual controls. Simply put, some of the jobs now have enough buttons that playing them on a controller is just vastly more problematic than doing so on mouse and keyboard.

I started out playing the game on a controller, but over the years I've had little recourse other than to abandon it in favor of the more convenient option. Is it still doable? Yes, of course. The juice just isn't worth the squeeze most of the time.

You can get a prebuilt with performance equal to or greater than current gen consoles for close to the same price if you're mindful of where you buy, what you buy, and when you buy it. Alternatively, you could save some money by building it yourself.
