FFXVI only PS5?

Some people's takes on how PC compares to consoles at this point isn't really based on what the hardware is like for the price point, but sentimentality.

What's in the PS5 runs in circles around PCs unless you're spending in the range of 1500-2000+ on hardware, and that shuts out an absolute ton of people from having a comparable experience on PC.

I hate this dumb meme analogy, but...

The virgin console manufacturer donating millions of dollars to a single video game so it can be exclusive to their platform for a little bit, VS the chad PC users who know it's all coming to their platform in a superior form soon enough (and meanwhile have so many games in their backlog it will last a lifetime)

I'm excited for FFXVI, but I'm not spending nearly a thousand dollars (CAD) just to play one video game.

I don't know what people are talking about with controller being "problematic". As someone who has been through Heavensward, the number of actions we use now is nothing by comparison. I've raided as a healer just fine as a controller user.

What do you mean? I'm sure every Bard during HW loved the fact that our opener consisted of *checks notes* cross-classing Feint so we could cram like 6 buffs into a 4 second window, back when we used to be a half-caster.

Yet the 3090ti costs 4 times the PS5 for the card alone (at least on Newegg) - which is what many on here are saying -- the price and performance gap between a 'good enough' PC that equals the PS5 or Series X will almost always be 2 or 3 times the cost of those consoles, unless someone can show somewhere a PC system that matches the consoles for $500.

I have all 3 so don't really have any issues, but I think no one should disparage any particular way to play as being terrible or trash, as some have done. I mean, I love PC and consoles equally and, to be honest with recent PC ports, no matter the power of the PC, if the port is terrible, console may just be the 'best' way to play, at least until PC port optimization or patches.

I agree, Square Enix has been pretty bad with some of their PC ports recently and that is why I worry about FF16 not being a PC launch title as we may end up with a subpar port that is poorly optimized and takes 3rd party mods and tools to make the experience good. As for building a PC, 100% agree, you won't be able to build a comparable PC for $500, but at the same time you have access to a wider variety of games and features you may not be able to have with just a console. That being said, you can still build a pretty decent rig for ~$800 and even less if you are willing to go on the second hand market for things.

For $500? Unless you find someone very generous on their pricing for refurbished units or an electronics store having a going out of business sale, you're probably not hitting that mark. You can, however, meet or exceed a PS5's overall performance without crossing the $1000 dollar mark if you know where and when to shop. This is speaking purely in terms of specs, mind. Whether or not titles are being released in a state of poor optimization (or worse, have a kernel-level anti-cheat with them) is another matter entirely. For whatever reason, gaming companies do seem to be fine with releasing shoddier products on PC. I'm of the opinion this is due in part to the fact they know the consumers will fix the problems themselves, without these gaming companies ever having to lift a finger.

Your 3090ti costs more than the amount I outlined alone, never mind the other parts you need to actually have a functioning PC out of it.

Hardware performance in the PS5 is roughly the equivalent of a 2070/3060 on the nvidia side, the graphics card eats up nearly all of what the PS5 costs a user alone there.
