The only issue with PC is theres only so much you can store in it along with constant maintenance. But see I rather have something that will always outperform. Consoles can never catch up to PC's. That has always been and always will be. PC's can make games last 10x much longer then consoles when you can add mods etc to it that extends the life of a game. Consoles can never do that because consoles don't really like mods unless you mod your system which is a big no no. Plus PC has emulator programs etc if we want to play old games for free where consoles may support a few old games but charge you. That is the magic of owning a pc over console. Plus the PC community can fix issues in games where devs may have forgotten or refused to fix, can't do that on console
Its why its much better to have a sole gaming platform since the average consumer really only has one PC which is used for everything besides just gaming.
What constant maintenance and storage issues do you have on your PC? Genuinely curious.
I think the second part is the important part when you think about costs as well. If you own a PS5 do you also own a PC? If you include the cost of the PS5 into the cost of the PC, how much better of a PC could you have gotten or what could you upgrade for the cost of the PS5 in the PC to make it equivalent/better than the PS5?
They said the game will take longer than the 6 month window to optimize for PC anyway regardless of the exclusivity deal. If we waited on a PC release we wouldn't see this game anywhere until 2024.

I have a PlayStation 5 but won't be getting XVI for it, I'd rather wait for the PC release for a better experience, I'll just have to avoid spoilers until then which is almost impossible with so many articles online.
I have XIV for PS5 but it looks so much inferior to PC that I can't stand playing for more than a few minutes, it would seem that my only use for the console is to play Gran Turismo 7 which is an exclusive but hopefully will come to PC eventually.
Bruh, FFXIV PS5 looks almost exactly the same as on native PC with High/Standard Graphical settings.I have a PlayStation 5 but won't be getting XVI for it, I'd rather wait for the PC release for a better experience, I'll just have to avoid spoilers until then which is almost impossible with so many articles online.

I have an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor, 32GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 6600, which imo are pretty above average specs to run the basics of FFXIV and I STILL, I repeat STILL! Get some chugs, slow down in PvP and crowded areas as well as long load times between zones. PS5 version runs the game much more smoothly with consistent performance and those super fast loading times between areas are just too good.
The only reason I still stick with PC version for the most of the time is due to having an easier time to type in chat with my keyboard but its embarrassing how the console version gives a much smoother experience than my PC, at least with my specs.

How pc ports have been lately I am starting to think about going back to consoles. I will be honest I rather buy a system that I know will play the game out of the box than the stress I go through with every pc game. The most recent example has been hogwarts legacy. I was excited to play the game and did every pc test to see if my system could handle it with min requirements and passed every one of them. I was so disappointed when I got to the school and saw my fps jumping all over the place and I couldn't take two steps without the game completely freezing. I also heard the dead space remake and the new soul-like game Wo Long:Fallen Dynasty are also poorly optimized. Seems like devs are now taking the lazy way to pc ports and not even optimizing them for systems...I bet the ff16 port will have the same issues so I most likely will buy a ps5 just for it since I know I be able to play it stress free.

There's an interview on MP1st where Yoshi explains the exclusive by saying "This time, we are developing together with a group of SIE engineers who know the basics of hardware, and we have received generous support for optimization that we cannot easily do on our own.
In addition, by not developing on the premise of multi-platform, man-hours can be invested in creation and optimization."
It seems they received actual optimization and engineering support for making the game from Sony.
