I can understand console games being exclusive from other consoles but I don't see why they need to be exclusive from PC as well. If I have a high end PC I see no benefit to buying a console, and it's absurd to buy a console just for one game, so I just have to wait a year or two to play the game for no reason.

and thats assuming the game even comes to PC, as much as i wanna play ghost of tsushima i doubt it'll ever get a PC release, though more japanese companys are starting to bring games over to PC, atlus who is known for hating pc games has already released the persona games on pc hopefully they port the trauma games to pc soon, fatal frame 4/5 is also on steam so hopefully we'll get a pc port of 1/2/3 some day

I'm sure it will. It seems like over the past few years console developers have started to realize that there is relatively little overlap between the PC and console audience and they're leaving millions on the table by not porting their games to PC. Of course this makes shunning a PC release at launch even more mystifying and frustrating.

I bought my PS4 solely to be able play FFXIV. Granted, I wasn't going to spend twice as much on a new PC to play it that way, and I was also coming out of gaming retirement and missed the last two generations of console releases (Game Cube, Wii, PS3, both Xboxes all passed me by). XIV is what got me to want to play again. I did eventually play more games on PS4, but it took a long while.

I also did it again, and picked up a Switch just to be able to play Metroid Prime remastered. I missed that entire trilogy and I am ashamed to call myself a Metroid fan. Not happening a second time. Again, I will eventually play more games on it, but it was MPR to got me looking in Nintendo's direction once again. There actually are a lot of really fun looking games for that system so it won't be long before I pick up game #2.

TBH it's a matter of preference for me on various titles whether I want them on console or PC. I have a PC that still outperforms a PS5 despite being about a year older. A majority of the games I play on it are MMOs, shooters (because keyboard and mouse will always be superior to a controller :P), RTS games, and games that are notoriously mod-able like Skyrim.

My consoles have had a considerable amount of JRPGS, racing games, platformers, pokemon, elden ring and other souls likes, general adventure games, animal crossing, etc...

The switch in particular has seen a whole lot of use and titles purchased for it simply due to it's portability as a console/handheld hybrid.

For metroid games. I really wasn't a fan of the FPS prime series of games. I did immediately buy a copy of Metroid Dread though due to it going back primarily to it's roots as a metroidvania exploration platformer.

There seems to be a bit of a split among the Metroid fanbase between those who came before the Prime series, and those who started out with those games. Seeing the game go to a first person shooter deterred me for sure, and I was happy to hear about Dread returning to the game's roots with phenomenal gameplay, and Samus being a mostly silent protagonist. I really wanted to play Other M as well and feel like a lot of criticism towards that game is coming from the Prime hunters. Even though MPR is far out of my realm, I am enjoying the experience and learning curves.

I doubt I will ever be a PC gamer though. As you said, it is definitely a preference thing and can't see myself ever getting accustomed to KB/M. I know you can still use controllers on PC. I also don't care much for mods and addons, and such a dinosaur when it comes to games.
