Like playing a TTRPG where you know you pretend to be someone else where you look to increase your character's stats and skills through the use of storytelling. I swear that person is the one who doesn't understand the mean of the words role-playing. Heck it's what actors do all the time. They come off as never having played house or any other game where they have to use the power of make believe while acting out a certain role. Are we sure they didn't get a reverse bullying role in school where they were shoved into a locker by the drama club?

Or for a whole world using wordly patterns already known in MMORPGs? with inspirations like WoW and so many other games (like Yoshi-P already said) or is something alien to the world around them like an exclusive game made for japoneses only using only their tastes and market? Or for a whole world using wordly patterns already known in MMORPGs? with inspirations like WoW and so many other games (like Yoshi-P already said) or something alien to the world around them like an exclusive game made for japoneses only using only their tastes and market? Yoshi said about the way the community was created inside WoW and how people attach to the core lore and all that. Also, the way quests are made and the general feeling of progress. He stated that in his MMO (FFXIV) he desired to improve such things giving the players of FFXIV the feeling of being part of the world, as we progress through the story and the events in the world. In fact, in FFXIV we feel inside the world and our char is very important to the world story.

Similar stuff we can see in games such as D&D tabletops RPG and books like the lord of rings, etc. Products made by western people, btw... '-'

And this is just ONE example. There is a lot more.

So, again, despite FFXIV was made by japoneses and fall for JRPG genre, it has elements of regular, well known and well developed worldwide RPG stuff, patterns and appeals. This is easily understandable as we see that FF franchise is wordly known by decades now and always had such patterns in their "universal" versions.

That's why we have "RP" tags inside game.
That's why we can make FCs inside this game.
That's why the story is so important for our progress.
That's why so many NPCs are well detailed.
That's why so many well done and long cutscenes everywhere.
And that's why the progress through the story have such weight in our general gameplay.

All that to make us feel part of the created world! Like in all western RPG products out there.

And like any MMORPG worldwide accessible, to be part of the world, to FEEL part of the world is so incentivated by the very devs. No matter where they came from, the genre, the appeals, the patterns of social interactions stills the same!

Since you know so much about the game and what the people who made it expect, might you enlighten us with what the ingame status 'Roleplaying' is intended to be used for? And also why is there an option for the Adventurer Plate profile to have a 'Roleplaying' option?

Role-players truly are an infestation. It's fine if they keep to themselves, but they seem to like going out of their way to make it other people's problem.
