    Gunbreaker Filler Combo

I've just started gunbreaker as a new class. I'm learning the opener rotation and am struggling. I feel like I must be missing something very simple, but something feels off

When I do the Keen Edge -> Brutal Shell -> Solid Barrel combo, I should be getting a cartridge at the end and a barrier in the middle (with brutal shell). However, I don't get the cartridge every time I perform the combo. Sometimes I don't get the barrier either. I also notice that the dotted yellow line denoting successive skills will sometimes pop up as a I perform the combo and sometimes it won't. Almost as if its registering that I have not met some type of prerequisite. Is GNBs main combo proc based? Is there some other interaction with the rest of the kit that I'm just not understanding?

Are you attacking enemies that are higher level than you?
When attacking a higher level target you have a chance to miss. Missing will cause combos to break and resources to not be generated.

You will always see the yellow thing unless you either did the combo wrong, or the attack missed. Attacks miss if an enemy is higher level sometimes, or if you got a blind buff, which happens in some old, optional ARR and Heavensward content.

Getting a cartridge depends on the level you synced to.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

Thank you both, that was exactly the problem. I was fucking around with my rotation in the overworld on enemies 10 levels higher than starting gunbreaker. I didn't even realize there was an accuracy mechanic in this game. I've always been severely overleveled so I never noticed missing

    The accuracy mechanic is:
    1. You have 100% frontal accuracy on any mob that is the same level as you or lower.
    2. Your frontal accuracy is less than 100% on any mob that is a higher level than you.
    3. You have bonus accuracy from flanks and rears.

So as a tank or solo player, you will have a miss chance on targets higher than your level. You might still have 100% or better flank or rear accuracy on a target one or two levels higher than you, which you might potentially leverage on a FATE boss by stunning them or taking the opportunity for rear hits when they slowcast something.

The best targets to practice your rotation on are low level dummies outside the starting cities. They won't die before you've even finished your opener and you won't miss.
