Savage is to hard this expansion

The puzzle mechanics are really confusing to me shadowbringers seemed alot easier. And its making feel the need to use 3rd party tools or just quit the game in general. I love to raid but my love for ffxiv raiding is dying. I have left 3 statics this tier over just them making me feel horrible for messing up mechanics that just confuse me, I am on p2 of p8 and i think im done after i get my clear. Yes i know hot take.

I'd say the last fight of the past and this tier might be harder than the last fights of the same tiers in Shadowbringers (I haven't raided savage in SHB, only E12S, so I don't know what battles there are). But if you look at the big picture, P1S, P2S, P6S, P7S are not that hard. But even battles like P3S, P4S and P8S don't require you to use third party tools to clear them. Just be patient and you'll get your clear. And if you feel you're getting tired, then it's just worth taking a rest so you can come back with renewed vigor

I will be the last person to defend this savage tier, least of all part 2.
I've disliked the direction boss fights were going and part 2 really carried it to the extreme. "Study up" smoke & mirror mechanics. They pile up more and more visual cues and markers and explosions and debuffs and gigantic timers and giant, new symbols and you see it for the first times and think "wooooaaaah brain melting! complicated! complex! incredible! what is even happening!".
And yet once broken down it boilds down to "if this, go to that marker. congrats, you win!".
It is an illusion of difficulty that doesn't last long because it doesn't even require great precision for timing or positioning nor does it require good reaction and awareness. It is just an overwhelming sensory overload that makes you think your brain is melting. That makes you watch 5min of a guide and think "omg I'll never get it, raiding isn't for me". They want you to feel the way you are feeling, confused, so you think it's crazy difficult, a huge challenge and so on. They probably don't want you to quit raiding but these types of fights aim purely at confusing you at first sight.

I preferred mechanics like WL2 there that weren't a massive debuff/ marker/ icon dump but instead relied more on awareness, reaction and timing.
Wing mirrors on the other hand were another prime example of smoke and (literally) mirrors. Looks crazy confusing at first and you felt like you had to do rocket science to solve it but in the end it boiled down to "okay bois, we run in a circle starting at this marker".
Fights like Barbie Ex were busy and had a decent amount of things going on at all times and with a few tweaks and different tuning, it could've been a fantastic savage fight. And it didn't have to rely on a massive icon/ marker/ brain melt illusion dump, most of it were very basic mechanics like stack/ spread. But it was a good example for mechanics not needing to rely on smoke and mirrors to be decently difficult to execute reliably like dodging tornados and then forming pairs or staying out. It was suitably forgiving for an Ex fight if you didn't execute it cleanly but there was a more constant awareness instead of a hard "omg brain melting wtf I can't" into "lol, I'll just chill at this safe spot, my job here is done" switch.

This was the easiest tier by far with the least amount of effort required across all jobs, but especially melee, they are ranged dps now

Maybe for you but shadowbringers was alot easier for me. Puzzle mechanics confuse me. Plus with the wierd juke out timings they added its not fun and just causes me to panic alot where i shouldn't. I'm glad you think its easy but its not. If this is the route they are going to keep going down, I will not be subbing next tier. Ill just go back to swtor where i can raid and have fun and not be panicking thinking of all the different combos for one mechanic. If it comes easy to you must be big brain and us smooth brains should not do savage right should move on from the mmo i loved these past 5 years.

P8S Part 1 is probably the worst fight they've done in quite a long time. The fact they had to nerf it, the fight being 8 minutes and having two separate timelines that throw off mitigation planning and rotations, gaze snapshots being questionable at best and often requiring dropped GCD's, several mechanics being outright unclearable if a single person greeds a GCD, Snakes 2 as an entire mechanic...

P3S might have had the poor color scheme and the beyond annoying length, but at least the fight had a victory lap near the end to give people a chance to clear.

The biggest issue of p8s is the fact that the people who tested, where also probably the ones who tested dsr, cant be having actually good people test it, you need some people who dont press half their button for the proper PF experience.

Otherwise i really enjoyed door boss, the mechs at the start inform the mechs later, and a degree of random makes it so i dont blank off and stop focusing.

P8s i dont think is as hard as E8S was, its no where as grueling

Feels like the dev team is under the pressure that players are evolving so with that they need to "up their game" and give more challenging content.
The difficulty of the mechanics in p8s is what one would see in old ultimates, and the new ultimates are getting harder and harder.
My only fear is that if they maintain this level of savage and ultimates or go higher then thatll be the end of raiding for me. Ill just sub once in 8 months to play patch content and then leave.
Its too unhealthy to clear savage. Its a nightmare for PF especialy with rng and party adjust mechanics. ive already cleared with my static but reclearing in PF just seems like a turn off. Dont have time for a 2hr wipefest on a content ive already done. If i wannt to prepare for ultimate, i want to try to gear my alts(maybe to learn another class) but i just couldnt step into PF.

P8S is definitely NOT ultimate level. not even old ultimate level.

    1) Could you go into more details? What fight, what mech is really confusing that you need to 3rd party for?
    2) Do you learn and clear blind? Or do you research on youtube? I'm only asking to see how you view and take on raids. Do you like take notes?
    3) How did you feel about P1S - P4S? Did you have the same take?

Cause I feel like the 1st teir should be easiest but as it goes up it should get harder and harder.
