The point is in this game (with still only a handful of encounters) it varies on the encounter as there is no perfect DPS gauge, so saying "Garuda can be used to compare X and X class, or Miser can" is wrong due to how those fights work giving benefits to specific jobs over others.
I agree, it would be nice if we had a fight that had no overriding resistances/weakness and lasted more then 5mins
I think Coincounter would be a good judge if you didn't have to disengage for swings
