why is the p8s loot so expensive?

It's taken me so long to prog this in party finder, and now I'm looking at another 15 weeks of grind to get the 2 items from there. Why is the weapon and chest coffer 8 books? Would it really be such a crime to lower it to 6 or 4, and allow the hard core week 1 people to get their best in slot items a little bit sooner? This feels so punishing to people like me who raid in party finder, and can't ever seem to roll above a 50 on a coffer since I have to roll against 7 others every week. I cleared the fight. Why do I now have to slog through it for 3 more months to get the loot?

chest coffer could stand to be lowered to 6, but weapons should remain at 8 books.

as always, the faster people get what they want, the faster they leave. if they leave, they may not come back.

if you leave because you didn't get what you want right away, at least you stayed longer than what you would have had you gotten what you wanted earlier.

Ultimate. As of right now, unless you had been on the grind for multiple weeks in advance you essentially can't participate in the most recent Ultimate, regardless of skill level.

i mean its pretty strange how a game with one of the big selling points is that you can play 20 jobs on one character is so unsupportive towards playing several of them.... while its easy to catch up ion one job, its a hassle to gear up more than one.

It took me 3 months just to get my Main job BiS. and there are 7 gearsets xX

Consider the average case-

first raid: say you need 3 out of 4 raid gear - 12 weeks
second raid: 2 of the 3 boots / gloves / helm (and 1 armor upgrade, using the original cost of 6 books) - 12 weeks for the raid loot. Potentially another 4-8 weeks, depending on how many accessory upgrades you need.
third raid: 1 leg coffer - 8 weeks. Probably another 4-8 weeks depending on how many armor upgrade items you need.

It seems like they were going for an average time cost per raid of 16 weeks, but consider also that the first 3 bosses drop 3 usable items each. 3 accessory coffers from the first boss, 2 coffers and 1 upgrade from the second, 2 coffers and 1 upgrade from the third. That means your odds are a lot better of winning at least 1 useful item from these raids during those weeks of farming, and you will likely see multiple accessory / armor coffers for everything but the legs / chest, cutting the time down considerably. I know that the last boss drops 3 items too, but the random weapon is almost always unusable. If you randomly luck out and your weapon drops, great. The odds of that are 1 in 19, way worse than the 1 in 8 of winning a coffer, leaving you with only 1 roll per week on the weapon, and 1 roll per week on the chest. Anecdotally speaking, I've met so many players in party finder that are full best in slot, minus the chest and weapon- including myself. The loot system seems to work decently well at getting players the loot from the first 3 bosses, but when you have finally conquered the last boss, they suddenly become super stingy. It just doesn't make sense to me, why such a massive time sink?

I get the argument that they want to keep you playing, but that wouldn't even apply to someone who lucks out and wins both coffers quickly. If that were really the reason, they would get rid of coffers and make everyone buy their items with books, and that would be a really shitty way of keeping players around for an extra 3 months. And as for 'why do I need the loot', I don't. But I beat the raid, and yet I'm still going to have to go back in there every week for the next 3 months before I have anything more than a reskinned alte roite mount to show for it.
