HELP - Possibly switching from NA to EU?

So I moved to EU recently, and I'm debating on if I NEED to change to an EU server. Will it significantly change my experience besides the obvious time difference? I haven't DCd and ping doesnt seem like its much of an issue right now. I saw a thread while researching EU servers or playing in NA while elsewhere; the user said that there was times in raiding where they were hit with AoEs where they should've been safe and weaving skills in was sometimes slower/less perfect. I'm kinda paranoid that connection may make endgame harder to play or possibly slowing my team down due to the possible connectivity issues. Would love to hear feedback or similiar experiences.

As an EU raiding on NA, you are always a bit behind in the eyes of the server, so you do get snapshotted more but you do get used to it to some degree, same with weaving its a lot easier to clip a GCD due to latency.

Connection will not be your issue, timezone in its entirety will hinder your possibility to do end-game content. You wanna raid at 9 PM CST? That's gonna be like 4 AM your time.

I've been playing NA servers for the past 3 years and clearing content was never an issue. There's very minimal difference when it comes to it are the snapshots.

I've noticed a lot of connection issues when playing my EU alt. Sometimes it's fine, other times the ping jumps around like a cracked out chimp. Even when it's working relatively well, you can expect there to be noticeable (but not unplayable) latency. It seems rather likely the same would be true for a player in the EU whose character remains in one of the US data centers.

The time difference could be an issue if you're looking at doing any kind of high-end raiding, but it becomes less of a problem if you're willing to work at it via PF. You'll find groups going 24 hours a day, seven days a week most of the time. It dies down a lot near the end of a patch, of course. From the sounds of it you've already got a team, so uh... well, I hope for your sake they raid early in the day, elsewise it will be holy-crap-o-clock for you when you start.

As long as your ping is not above a 100, weaving should be okay. I play on 150 minimum and I remember P4S Part 2's first Act triangular AoEs would snapshot me a second or so sooner than the rest of my team which was EU-based. Some Jobs' gameplay feels pretty awful at my ping, like Dragoon. But there's tools out there to mitigate that I've heard, so you should be okay in that department as well as long as you acknowledge the risk that it involves breaking the rules.

You might as well not even attempt to play DRG or NIN with inordinately high ping. It absolutely annihilates your ability to weave as a DRG, and it screws with your mudras as NIN despite SE's attempts to mitigate the effects of latency on them.

I guess it depends how situated you currently are. I have a few friends that live in Australia and when Materia came out, they found the game far more playable playing there. One of them has since moved there for the better ping, but another rather hang around their NA friends since they don't really raid. When I played on Materia for a bit with them, I did feel the latency a few times as I was hit by a few AoEs that I know I was out of the way of.

I guess my next question would be what World in EU I would select if I did switch over. I'm really into raiding all the high-end content, as well as PvP if the rewards are good enough.

louisoix is an alright server, decent amount of people and get a chance at housing. Ragnarok is a very busy server with very little chance of housing.

DC Travel is a thing, any? maybe one with a buyers' market for pots and food.
