    Suggestion: Rare Equipment

    Just thinking that it might be nice to have rare equipment that is only able to be created by rare mat drops. These rares would be better than average gear drops and would be on par or close to on par with the best gear in the game.

    Basically there would be ingredients that are only obtainable by DoL, with different rares for each tier, which have a very low drop rate. DoH's if they can collect or buy these rares from others, would be able to create the rare item if they have the recipe. A recipe may not include 100% rare items, or it may.

    Basically I think this would allow crafters to be able to make some of the best gear in the game in an additional way beyond just HQ'ing someting. It isn't meant to replace HQ and in fact these gear items could potentially be HQ'd too, it's just another way to make DoL and DoH feel important.

    I hope any criticism will be constructive, and not just angst-filled individuals shooting down every idea they come across.

    Don't we have already something like this with the high-difficulty recipes? You need to craft a mat as HQ version to craft the finished product.

    My thoughts as well.

    There are some rare drops from enemies that are necessary to make certain items. Like the Garlean Fiber, Rubber, Steel Plate, etc. And even if you have these items you still need a skilled crafter to make the final product.

    For other rare craftable items it really helps to start with HQ materials (only gatherable by a high level DoL) then crafting through several high difficulty recipes to make the finished item.

    If you have all your crafts at level 50 you will have the advantage of being able to pick any ability to use, but you only get to use 5 at a time and there are different schools of thought on which 5 are best to use for HQ'ing.

    Creating the necessary HQ parts is still not guaranteed even with all HQ materials. And HQ'ing the final product is also another big challenge for DoH. Watching over 1 million gil worth of materials go unstable then blow up in your face is frustrating to say the least. But this is kind of like endgame content for DoH.

    The items created from these high difficulty recipes are pretty rare right now and their stats are decent, but they are class-only (not usable by jobs). However, they should be forming the base for relic weapons and since 1.22b came out the demand for and price of these weapons to double meld (another DoH challenge) has jumped noticably.

    The demand for DoL and DoH seems to be at an all time high right now.
