So, mostly, everybody loves Ryne, but there was always a debate on her age. Because she is young looking and short, most people thought she was like 12-14. But, I've been saying, since the beginning, that she was 17. And now with the newest Encyclopedia Eorzea, there is definitive proof that she is 17. I mean the context clues were there in the story, people just had to look for them.

I feel vindicated. Anyone else get this feeling when something in the game was confirmed?

I don't quite know what "other fictional below-18 character" you are referring to but having ANY inappropriate depictions of them is wrong, regardless of which under-18 it is. (Though I didn't know that Goku is under 18 but I don't watch that show)

Generally referring to a lot of popular anime characters like Kitagawa Marin from My Dress-Up Darling for instance.

Personally I don't give two damns what someone likes as long as it isnt real, but I hate pplen hypocrites about it.

Goku in Dragonball is a minor.
Goku in Dragonball Z is an adult with a wife and kids.
Goku in Dragonball GT is an adult with grandkids by this point, transformed back into his kid body (imagine the fountain of youth), but still very much acts, and behaves like an adult. Is called grandfather still even while being in that child body by his grandkids.

It really depends on which Dragonball show era people are trying to reference to.

Not defending Japan. But Japan just has a different way of thinking and doesn't really see eye to eye on a lot of issues that the West has. But because western culture is big, influential, and loud; they budge every now and then to fit in with the rest of the world. They are just often one of those "late to the party" types on issues because they lowkey wait long enough to see if there's backlash and we back peddle on things.
